Sixpack ugly rumor/ scoop of the day...Z Smith under center |
Lead | ||
|
(overheard in the war room of the German high command) Zach Smith will be used this weekend as QB in a Rocky Felker inspired veer attack. A former high
school QB in Alabama, Zach may be the answer Coach Sly Croom is looking for to spark his offense ( his offense needs a spark, I didn't know). On a
similar note, punter McAdams is upset at his coach for attempting this new scheme because it has the potential to interfere with McAdams quest to be the all-
time SEC leader in the number of punts. McAdams was also nominated this week for the Ray Guy award for the nation's best punter (choke, choke).

It would be fine w/me, but too late. | #1

I don't know of any offenses that run the Veer and few run the option. WC, Pro Set, Spread are the offense du joir. That said, if installed a veer type
offense-it would be much harder to stop simply b/c know one runs it. Think we have acceptable QB speed and there's not much difference in our QB's top
to bottom if they get hurt running it.
Congrats Sly

"I don't know of any offenses that run the Veer "
Its their main play
"I don't think LSU finishes at the bottom of the West, by any stretch, but I think think they have the least chance of winning it." - Bulldogbaja on the upcoming SEC West

Oh great | #3 | ||

We decide to run the one offense that GA Tech has seen all spring and summer practice. Paul Johnson and staff are good coaches-they'll make an adjustment
after two plays.

Think maybe | #4 | ||

that Z. Smith is under center running the veer simulating the GT offense for practice purposes. Just maybe?

Hello??? Scout team, maybe? | #8

Monkeys will fly out of Croom's butt before he'd hand over the offense to a converted safety.

Im still surprised Pegues is getting touches on offense... | #9

Croom admits he is their best player on the team, he is your best PR and KR and yet you don't try and get him the ball on offense.
Even if you don't get him the ball, the other team would have to focus on him. I don't see why he couldn't run the WR faking around the QB on the HB dive. Teams would have to react, and eventually you could give him the ball. You would think getting the ball in your playmaker's hands would be a main priority. |

that is a low blow

You would think that... | #11
|
but he won't even put in our top playmaker that is strictly an offensive player so no chance in hell Pegues gets touches even though Zach Smith is
perfectly serviceable at FS for a series or 2.

Funny thing about Pegues. | #12
|
In 2006, he led the team in all-purpose yards without taking a single offensive snap.

Not that hard... | #13 | ||

when you get a lot of kickoffs and punt returns. You get 3 kickoffs a game and average 30 yds, that's 90 right there. Especially considering our
offensive production.
I support the two most frustrating teams in America: The New Orleans Saints and the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

that has a lot to do with the fact that... | #14
|
we were receiving the ball way too often on kickoffs and were having three and outs way too often on offense. either way that stat is terrible.

Thought the exact same thing. Why "surprise" Tech with an offense | #16

that they know EVERYTHING about? Complete moron.

Hey, Im glad he isn't giving Pegues the ball... | #17

I know this has been discussed, but I think MSU's lack of offensive success has been discussed previously, but I think people are still talking about
it.

Oh, I understand why he led us. But I don't think it's quite that easy. | #18
|
He finished 20 yards per game behind Dixon in 2007. And I doubt you'll find many teams at all where the team leader in total yards doesn't get ANY of
those yards on offensive snaps. The point is (and it's been made on here many times over the past 4 years) it's foolish not to get the ball to Pegues
2-5 times per game on offense.

I would give it to Pegues in a "Wild Set" similar to the Wild Hog or the Wild Rebel....Hell it couldn't be any worse...Atleast he can escape
tackles and get into the open...Crap at this point lets atleast give it a try...Hell lets give anything a try....

That thinking is correct. Croom said in his teleconference he would have the first team offense simulating GA Tech's to give them a better look. In order to keep from killing our shaky qb depth he most likely moved Smith to qb since his high school ran a similar scheme. MSU 14 - LArry TEmpletonCH 22, thanks for the parting gift asshole.
