Can someone tell me why every tree on campus has an aluminum tag with a number on it?

If I remember correctly, it was some sort of campus "tree inventory" that was done under the J. Charles Lee administration. Has to do with long
range planning for campus beautification and the replacement of older trees. Believe some faculty in the College of Forest Resources headed up the
project...maybe even some students and grad students.

That was a genuine "lol" for me, and with no profanity or spite. Slow clap.
