Never can remember what goes here..
Which would you rather see Starkville have (Total Votes: 77) - ClosedBars open to 1 am weekday, 2 am weekend (Nothing Sunday) (14 / 18.2%) Sunday Alcohol sales (63 / 81.8%) |

you spend the exact same amount of time in the bar, you just go earlier. Plus, you get to have fun late nights. Towns like Athens where it's 3am there
just aren't big late nights after the bar, and no one shows up until midnight anyway.
I'd be find with every night being 1am.

1 am across the board would be fine. My assumption would be that the bars get more $ out of it that way too just because you're more likely to have some
stayovers from dinner than if you make closing later and those peoples' friends dont get there til later

I think they worded this wrong.. | #4
Section 4: Hours when sale is prohibited. I think someone needs to go back and re-read that proposed bylaw.
I could buy Crimson red, erect a shrine to the Bear in my den and start Screaming "Roll Tide" tomorrow. I could buy a ton of Orange stuff, some
orange socks, orange tassle loafers and learn the words to Rockytop tonight. I could buy a case of cheap corn whiskey and find a table in the grove Saturday -
I own Dockers, have a freshly laundered heavily starched white button down collar shirt and a $300.00 Blue Blazer in my closet. I could fake all of that OM
stuff until I got good at it - Why, just listen to me, "Hotty Toddy - where's my ice" - sounds authentic doesn't it? I know people who suck
crawfish heads and follow them up with a corn dog. I like gumbo and Old Crow. I could root for the Tigers down in Red Stick (WHo dat?) right away. -

So, we are | #6 | ||
|
good to drink 40's out in front of the BP on University on Sunday Mornings until worship service starts, and we can't start back until late that night.
And then we have to stop at 2am on Monday? Right?
The good news is that apparently we can stay up all night being served on Saturday night and don't have to stop until church service. |

I was going to try that whole "drink from 7 am Saturday Morning until 11am on Sunday" thing.

I'm of the opinion that a person should be able to do whatever he wants whenever he wants. | #9

But maybe that's just me. Let the market determine how long the bars stay open.
I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'. Kurt Vonnegut, Timequake, 1997 |

your right the market should | #10
|
dictate what happens, so if I want to open a strip club next to you house you would be fine with that. How about 24 hour bar next to your church. or an
ampitheater next to your house. who needs rules. everyone should do what he wants whenever he wants.

You need to understand the difference in "the market" and "zoning" before you continue this discussion.

'the market' as it applies to a law | #12
|
that limits the hours when acohol can be sold is very similar to the zoning laws that limit where alcohol can be sold so the arguement is valid.
