Question about board setup... |
Lead | ||
|
Do y'all like having different boards for different sports? I personally don't like it but I noticed genespage did that for the premium boards.

No. Keep it simple. | #1 | ||

I want one board to look through, not multiple ones.

the Genespage split board started because Scout does not have a tab for baseball recruiting. Several people (myself included) requested that some type of board be created so that we could keep up with the recruits (similar to the Bones board that archives the nightly bones). I assume it evolved from there as the new boards started out as recruiting boards for baseball and basketball. I personally do not like it. The problem it creates is that if you like to get an idea what is going on in the big three MSU sports you have to go back and forth between several boards. However I know that there are several people that only care about one of the sports. Therefore they probably love it. Finally, I have noticed that several other schools have already done the split to include boards for a particular sport that may be popular for that school only (ie women's basketball for UT). |

There would be way too many boards. I think we talk about more sports than they do. |

I like it better this way.
Maybe we could have a soccer only board, though. (sarcasm) |

Seriously though, separate boards would probably mean a lot of useless clicking.

keep it to one board | #6 | ||

while there is a great increase in traffic here, there still aren't really enough posts or new threads even during busy months to warrant a new forum. You
can generally read the first 2 pages and you'll start finding dead threads that haven't been posted in over the last 12-24 hours.

I don't like. I think a lot of other sites do this because ad revenue can be driven by page hits and splitting the sports among multiple boards would
result in more hits.

I'd prefer one board. | #8

If you split it up, you would have some dead boards and some active ones. You'd also have dubmasses posting baseball questions on the football board, of
course.

I'm half serious in suggesting a soccer board. Think of the possibilities! | #11
|
You could title it ***Soccer Board*** or ***Soccer Bored*** or ***Communist Faggot Kickball Board***.
I'll even moderate it free of charge! |

Is there any better way to see an entire thread of posts in the order they are posted, and to which post replies to which, other than running the cursor over
the post title and getting to read about 1/3 of the actual post?
Nice run-on sentence and random commas, huh? Its obviously not a big deal, just curious.

I just click on the initial reply to which there are replies.
That makes sense doesn't it?

clicking on several different convos within a thread to get everything in context gets annoying. Just wondering if there was a better way I didnt know about
