Personally, I think we need to dig out and build down to the field. We have to have more sideline space than any stadium I've ever been to. I just got back
from a high school football camp at Troy State and I would absolutely love to have stands as close as they do. Every stadium I've been to in the SEC was
twice as close. I think it would improve the atmosphere tremendously.

With increased enrollment at the university over the years, the upcoming ESPN deal, and (hopefully) the success that Mullen and Byrne can bring to our football
program, we have unprecedented potential for fanbase growth. The last thing we need is for our stadium to hold us back. Regardless of whether you're
selling out your stadium on a regular basis or not, increased capacity results in increased attendance. Increased attendance equals more money from ticket
sales, merchandise sales, and sales of everything else connected to MSU. I agree that more premium seating is needed, but to not increase general seating at
the same time seems idiotic to me.
As an aside, increasing capacity also gives us the option to increase the allotments for visiting teams so that we get more of their money too.  Your Signature ...

one brings in big bucks, the other does not. You do both together, and the suites end up paying for the whole thing. Even though the seating capacity goes up
very little, it greatly increases revenue.

and still add the luxury box/club levels above that and be good to go. The key to those seats is The number of people who set in the very back of the lower
levels and in the upper decks may pay a little more for the end zone and be lower. Plus you put half that bowl in student and bring that around allowing the
University to sell those tickets on the 30-40 yd lines to paying customers for higher prices. Sucks for students but they wont care that much. Hell it didnt
matter where I was as long as it wasn't upper deck or those bleachers

Scott Field held 42,000 plus whatever those aluminum add-ons did. I'm pretty sure DWS usually averages more than what Scott Field held at max capacity.
And my point is Scott Field wasn't consistently selling out.....Proof positive: build it, and they will come. Sure there's a limit. You can't build a 150,000 seat stadium and fill it up in Starkville. But to think we're somehow close to capped out at 50,000-60,000 is ludicrous. |

we were close to 90% capacity. They year of expansion, we were at 98%. Right now, we are averaging 78%. Numbers don't make sense. We need to win a
little bit more before increase our general seating by almost 20%. And no one is saying cap it at 60K. But you don't go expanding in the next couple of
years to 65K.

Flab is correct that we did gain more attendance with the expansion, but it truthfully a minimul percentage wise, and its compounded for effect because of the
good seasons going on.
Congrats we added over 12,000 seats and only added about about 1500 new fans per season average in attendance. NOT a good trade off. I will say this though, the North endzone expansion does not need to be half-assed though like LT would do, you HAVE to take into consideration not only the preminum seatings that will be paying for the expasion, but you also HAVE to take into consideration long-term. unless the bowl is completed in the north, you have club level, skyboxes, AND an upper deck..then it is NOT complete and the potential is not finished. You need to think long term and build so that you leave these options open when building a base. |
