due to knee tendinitis. i hate to see him unable to play, but the door is wide open for Federer to reclaim #1 and eclipse Sampras's mark for grand slam
titles.
if Nadal's knees hurt during the clay and grass seasons, they'll really be hurting on the hard courts. it might not be a bad idea to take the summer
off.
