Where is the best bass fishing in Mississippi? |

Particulary in the northern part of the state. I have heard alot about Aberdeen but never been there.

They don't call Pickwick Lake "The Small Mouth Capital of the World" for nothing.

You won't find smallmouth action any better than Pickwick. Not sure about N.Miss. but Lake Caroline and Calling Panther have gotten a lot of props for
largemouth. Bass fishing on Ross Barnett Res. is steadily improving. If you really want legendary largemouth action, head west. Toledo bend on the
Texas/Louisiana border can will give you plenty of excitement. If you have the extra time, Lake Fork near Mineola, TX
is legendary for monster bass. Of the 50 biggest bass caught in Texas history, 34 are from Lake Fork (18 of the top 25) including the 18.18 state record. I go
out a few times a year and it never fails to impress.
A friend of mine owns a lure company there, Lake Fork Trophy Lures. State Alum and Bulldog through and through. |

is my favorite lake in the area. I haven't fished it in a while but Sardis was always good for a few 2-6 lbs largemouths and if you know how to fish it, Lakeview (Horn Lake) still has some good fish in it. I caught and released a several in the 6-8 lb range last summer. |

Aberdeen is great place to fish.........Not far from the Aberdeen lake is | #4
|
where the old Tombigbee joins into the Tenn-Tom Waterway, so the fishinig is exceptional.....When the spillways are open, you can snag them big flat head
cats.....I've seen some big ones come out of there. I'm talking about 60-75 pounders.......The bass and crappie fishing are also excellent, yeah, you
won't go wrong going to Aberdeen.....I would suggest maybe camping over at BlueBluff.........Very nice recreation and camping area........

Anywhere along the Tombigbee can be good. I am most familiar with Columbus and Aberdeen Lakes. I usually did well on Columbus Lake around the islands between
the boat ramp and dam. The Tibbee Creek area was good.
With that said, I have not fished the reservoirs enough to compare to the Tombigbee. However, they would have to be damn good to beat the Tombigbee. |

A smaller lake but Trace Lake is hard to beat. | #7

About 600 acres, maybe more. It routinely takes 25-30 lbs to win cookie jar tourneys. Has alot of deep water 30feet plus, rip rap, standing timber and
humoungous lilly pads. As I stated its smaller than the others but if you dont have alot of time to find bass, larger lakes can be harder to fish. It is off of
Hwy 6 between Ponotoc and Tupelo. About 5-6 miles from Ponotoc. Located in a state park type area with all the amenties of the larger lakes. I highly recommend
it, especially if you are looking for a chance to land quality fish in the 5-10 pound range.

Since you said the "Best" | #8

Two places:
1. Pickwick hands down is the "best" place to fish in Northeast Mississippi as far as big water. 2. Trace Lake is the "best" small lake to fish in Northeast Mississippi. |

I agree about Pickwick, but.. | #9
|
you can also try below the Pickwick Dam and catch some nice smallmouth from the bank. The current down there is ideal for fishing. If you fish here you may
want to get a TN fishing license.

I agree with others concerning Pickwick | #10

Aberdeen and Columbus are really good too. I'm guessing you mean big water since you brought up Aberdeen. If you are looking for Bass fishing, period,
there are smaller lakes that are excellent, and some unknown to many. If you want a trophy large mouth, Davis Lake on Tombigbee NF would be a great place to
visit. When it gets shocked for population estimate purposes, 9 and 10 pounders are a regular thing with some 12 and even 13 pounders thrown in. Also,
don't forget about Okkissa lake in Meadville. It's not a Bill Dance premier lake for nothing. He helped design it and it is really starting to get
really good.

I have been to Trace Lake... | #11

And I just have not caught much of anything. I know the little bastards are in there but I have not had much luck. It is a really nice lake though. I like
the way it separates the skiers from the fishing.

It's been quite a while since I fished there in North Mississippi but from what my friends tell me | #12

Pickwick is still the best. It was always my favorite. Something biting year round there and you used to be able to fish to the dam with a Miss license and
south to the interstate bridge with a Tenn license. If you go during the summer keep one rod rigged with a rattle trap or spoon so you will be ready for the
whites schooling.
Sardis was fantastic back in the early 90's but I don't know if it is still any good. Find the right cove with a good feeder creek and you can wear your arm out. Trace Lake is easily the best small water in N MS but tended to be crowded at times. Lake Monroe near Amory is very small but you can have a blast when they are hitting there. I spent a lot of time on the waterway. Columbus was okay early and late in the day during the summer. Aberdeen and Aliceville were both good in the backwater areas. Fulton and Smithville are excellent if you have someone to show you where to fish. It should be just about time to fish a 12 inch worm on the deep humps in Bay Springs.

have you fishing it lately. | #15

It seems like it has become hit or miss the past couple of years. This spring the water was really stained the few times I went out there.

Has anybody fished there lately or does it even still exist? It used to be incredible. It was a private club with several lakes stocked with big Florida
bass. I had a friend whose uncle was a member. I went twice, caught 2 bass over 10lbs and several in the 7-8 lb range.

Great place to fish for bass and crappie. 1 hour north of Jackson. They have two small lakes.
