Now that the Grill is gone, someone step up and do whatever it takes to get a Buffalo Wild Wings... |

in there, maybe even a Hooters if we could find a way to staff it. An Outback Steak House would be nice but I doubt they would even use that building.

atmosphere and management and service. It's very hard to duplicate those three characteristics from one location to another. Seems like there will always
be a loss in quality somewhere. And customers are naturally going to compare (Oby's is a prime example). At least with chains, people "think"
they're getting consistency, even if the food quality and value actually sucks.

Keifer's has two locations in Jackson and that's all they want. From what I understand, they have no designs on ever franchising outside of jackson.
I've always thought it would be a really good idea to put one in both Starkville and Oxford. With all they Jackson ppl going to college, they could make a
killing.

BWW is the devil | #26 | ||

I hate that place. 100+ TV's doesn't automatically qualify a restaurant/sports bar as good. The wings/food taste like burnt shit and the limited
selection of beer they do have is expensive. I question the intelligence of anyone who genuinely enjoys their experience there - unless it is 100% based on
being able to watch whatever sporting event they desire. Then, you might have an argument.
Not to just pick on BWW, but would a chain sports bar even have a fighting chance in Starkville? I know the college crowd wouldn't go - a chain wouldn't likely be able to sell $1.00 beer, $2.00 wells, etc. to keep them happy. Is the post-college crowd large enough in Starkville to support a chain sports bar? |

but Starkville needs a Buffalo Wild Wings or something comercial like that somewhere. OP4 is such a hipster I guess if he dosen't like something nobody
should. I like BWW damn it!
Beer Boobs and Burgers yes CB9 that will be a winner in any college town. You should eye ball that place as a future investment possibility...... |

hard to duplicate | #29 | ||
|
Sure you could serve pita, gyros, hummus, etc.....but could you find enough flamers in Starkville to tip toe around as waiters?
Sure you could serve a delicious Thursday lunch roastbeef special, draft beer, etc.....but could you duplicate that original Cherokee "I love the pennants, but I am about to get robbed at any moment" feeling? I wish Dan would back off the rent a little and let things be. Sure "Grill" it isn't as good as it used to be, but it is decent. Mugshots has come to town and taken the big burger and fries game, they won. College students these days will recall the chicken strips and burgers there just like we think back to Flo and Eddies and the "Old" Grill, and just like the old farts, no offense cowbell, speak with reverence about Len-Lews? sp? I would like to see Mellow Mushroom or something like Sal and Mookies coupled with expensive beers as mentioned by someone who referenced the flying saucer. Although I hate myself afterwards, I will paying 3X cost for tasty pizza and imports. I figure spoiled cotton district renters would too. Got to play to your market there. |

My point was directed to chain sports bars. I just don't see a chain restaurant/bar being able to compete with
the local places that can sell their drinks dirt cheap. College folks will certainly go to a sports bar, but not when they have to pay twice the price for a
drink - 100 TVs or not.

The BWW in Tuscaloosa has $5 pitchers of Bud Light all day every day, and they have a better selection of beer than anywhere in Starkville.
The quality of those places must vary drastically from location to location because the Tuscaloosa one is the one I'm familiar with, and they have cheap beer, a decent selection of beer, and I've never had bad wings (if you aren't ordering wings, then I agree the food isn't very good), and they're usually really good. |

The owners of Anthony's both graduated from State and sometimes hang out with us in the LFL. I'm quite positive they aren't diehard Ole Miss fans.
Now if you're talking about the Fraley's, who used to own Anthony's, I have no idea what team(s) they supported.
You've got to find somebody who likes the same stuff. Like, if you like sports, she should like it that you like sports, and she should keep the
chips and dip coming.
