Gov. Riley encouraging DUI's!!!! | #25
|
How COULD he? Doesn't he understand that by raising the allowable alcohol content in beers he's going to force underage Mississippians to drive to
Alabama to get the higher content beer? And what do you think these kids are gonna do with that ice cold beer when they get in the car? By god they're
gonna drink it so it doesn't get warm on the drive back across state lines! This is wreckless governing!

I have some 12 oz. Oaked Arrogant Bastard in my refrigerator. I've never seen Arrogant Bastard in anything but 22 oz. bottles, though.

Don't just bitch about it on a sports message board. Join Raise Your Pints so you can get involved. The success of Free The Hops in Alabama and the law
change in West Virginia can only help the cause here in Mississippi.

However, they did expand their facilities to Florida a while ago and that opened up a lot of markets in the south. However, MS is still not one of their locations. I do understand that there is a big push on them to come here soon. |

I can't get it here either, and that's possibly my favorite beer | #29

has flavor, but it's not heavy at all. Not too bitter either. Great beer.

...is high-alcohol beers aren't even available in liquor stores where much harder liquor is available. WTF
If the state wants to draw a line between hard liquor and softer liquor, I get that. But to completely blacklist one kind of alcoholic drink with its alcohol content not being an issue - is ridiculous. |

there simply isn't a good argument against it. Like you say, sell it at liquor stores | #31

if you must.

...the Downtown Pub has Yuengling on tap for $1.75 all day, everyday. Great place to go grab a beer with friends. Theres never any annoying ass crappy bands playing, just the jukebox. |

I am not sure what the outpouring of aggrevation about this says to me. | #34

Is our quality of life really suffering because of this? I agree that it is obviously a ridiculous law, but we recessions, global warming, and the BCS to
tackle first.

Why not this first? It actually has an easy, simple solution | #35
|
it could be solved in five minutes if politicians had any sense.
There simply is not a good reason for this law. There isn't. Not one.

Whoa buddy. | #36 | ||
it could be solved in five minutes if politicians had any sense. Are you suggesting that our highly esteemed, elected officials couldnt find their ass with both hands and a map? Get real for a second. Do you know how many easy fix problems there are out there? If "our" government started trying to solve the quick fixes it would take centuries to chew through that list. Its best that they are left alone.

I think the problem might be with the ABC of MS. | #37
|
Not sure, but I think they would have to distribute the beer and of course would tax it. Would the beer distributors want to deal with the ABC?

Since Alabama signed it.... | #38
|
...Mississippi will do so in the coming months.
As it's been said here, there is just no valid argument against raising the limit. Any time you can go into a liquor store and buy Everclear which is damn near 100% alcohol and you can't buy beer above 6%, something is badly wrong. |
||||

Actually, ABC cannot distribute beer... | #39
|
because it cannot distribute malt beverages, regardless of alcohol content. The distribution part itself would be no problem. If a broker/manufacturer wants
to get something in distribution, they only have to sell a certain number of cases based on what it is and pack size, then average a smaller number of cases
per month to keep it listed. The formulation is the problem.
