Self's choice is return home to a boatload of money and the resentment that might accompany that, along with the pressure to produce. They won't be
paying him that kind of coin to be in the final four of the Big 12 tournament every year. But, it is your alma mater, and you can make so much money there that
you can coach til they fire you or you quit, then never work again unless you want to. That's appealing.
On the other hand OSU is not Kansas though they have nothing to be ashamed of. Kansas will be in a position almost every year to be in the Sweet 16, and every few years in the Final Four. Winning is what the coaches I know live for. The competitor in him has to like where he is now.
I think I would stay at KU for a while longer because I like to win, but maybe in 10-12 more years if that job comes open again, and the money is still on the table, then I might go for it and ride off into the sunset.
