Hello Six Packers!!!
I want to start off by giving the Bulldogs their props for coming out prepared to play the Tigers Saturday night. I was expecting State to show a similar performance against the Tiiiigaaahhhs as they did against Ga. Tech, but that simply was not the case. In fact it was my beloved Tigers that looked like they didn't care, and it could have hurt them. The Stallion took some criticism this past week calling the Starkville Dawgs a team full of quitters (and the performance against the Yellow Jackets supported that); however, that wasn't the case in Baton Rouge.
However, what a weekend of football with three of the top five teams losing. Could this be a repeat of 2007? The "cream" took a shock treatment this weekend as two teams appear to be vying for the title in the early part of the race. However, the season is still young. Two things are for certain - Fulmer still looks like a pumpkin and Arkansas is extremely uncompetitive.
And how about the Beavers of Oregon State. I know Mark May can't sleep at night since his first love has a blemish now. His first love is not perfect after all. And the Stallion loved it!!! I think this really opens the door for an SEC team to get into the National Championship versus a Big 12 team.
And now for the Week 5 rankings -
1) LSU - They are back where they feel most
comfortable, atop the Cream Rankings. However, the Tiiigaaahhh's "scrimmage" turned out to be much tougher than the Mad Hatter's team
expected. Now they get two weeks to prepare for the Swamp.
2) Alabama - As the Stallion predicted and
took some heat for at the beginning of the year. Saban's boys are for real. Julio Jones is absolutely ridiculously
good and that defense is a force. Question now for Alabama is whether they can keep this momentum with such a young
team.
3) Florida
- Superman Tebow ran into KryptoNutt this weekend. A blocked PAT and a horrendous 4th down call could
spell doom to Gator Nation's national championship dream for 2008-09.
4) Georgia - Stafford, Knowshown and the boys
never really have stepped up this year and lived up to the hype. Same ole', same ole' for those Gawwgggaaa
Dawgs.
5) Auburn - It's very apparent that Tubby
is going to win games with his defense because that offense is B A D.
6) Vanderbilt - Did my paper read right this
morning? Vandy is 1st in the East. Hell just got about 100 degrees
cooler.
7) Ole Miss- Houston Nutt is proving to all
qualified coaches around America that you can turn a program around and make progress in the first year. Epic win for
the Mad Nutters in the Swamp.
8) Kentucky - It's hard to rank Kentucky
this high when they really haven't shown how good or how bad they are at this point. Since they are undefeated up
until this point.
9) South Carolina - I have had the Cocks
lower in previous weeks, but by default they move ahead of the Vols.
10) Tennessee- Is it just me, or is Crompton a
very bad QB. He is single handedly hurting the Vols right now and it could be the meal ticket to Fulmer's
retirement party if he doesn't look for other ways to generate points.
11) Miss. St. - Yes they lost, but the Hogs are
clearly worse than MSU. I also believe that State showed some offensive improvement this past weekend and may win
another game this year outside of MTSU.
12) Arkansas - I am now playing an Arky
alum. "Where's Houston Nutt? Oh that's right, we ran him off to
Oxford. Damn, we're stupid. All Nutt did every year was compete for a
western division title and slip up and beat a couple of good teams per year. So what if he text messaged his whore 2
million times per week. He produced W's. Damn we're
stupid!"
Hot Boudin Award - As much as I hate to do it, I have to give it to the Rebels for doing the unexpected. Huge win for the program and it has definitely opened up the eyes of Mississippi's future opponents in 2008. Honorable mention goes to Alabama and Oregon State for making LSU that much closer to No. 1. However, the season is still young.
Cold Couscous Award -Georgia for completely going on national TV and getting taken to the woodshed by Saint Nick. The Bulldogs never live up to expectations and this year is no exception. You thought your schedule was tough before you played Bama. Good luck on the rest of this year with Auburn, LSU, Florida, and even Vandy still to play.
And Urban Meyer gets the part of the couscous this week for his awful decision to follow Croom's philosophy on offensive creativity on 4th down. Well done Urban. You just cost your Gators a chance to be No. 1.
Love,
Stallion
