Posts: 1190 08/17/08 01:33 PM	Tags : None SVille or GTR area anyway. Of the area courses, which one is in the best shape overall and most challenging? Have played the MSU course several times over the past 20 years, most recently 2 years ago but wasnt all that impressed. Greens still were rock hard and the tee boxes and overall course condition wasnt as good as I thought it should be considering we're a PGM program. Any recomendations on courses would be greatly appreciated. Is Starkville Country Club still private or is it semi-private now? Thanks!

Posts: 3130 08/17/08 02:11 PM	Dancing Rabbit on the Choctaw Indian reservation in Philadelphia. 36 holes, both courses are awesome. I haven't played there in a few years but I assume it's still in top notch shape. Play your golf, hit the casino for a nice dinner, roll some bones then head back to the patch.

Posts: 213 08/17/08 03:25 PM	Dancing Rabbit has 2 good courses. Old Waverly still the best around. Highlands Plantation is pretty rough. I haven't played Elm Lake in several years....with the number of houses that have been built out there, they may have improved the course. MSU is in good shape, I have just never liked the layout of that course. Too many "tricked up" holes.

And I don't mean a little bit; it looked like they had sand traps in the middle of some of their greens. Posts: 70 08/18/08 08:53 AM	1. Try Waverly first. Could be pretty busy though. 2. If you can't get a time at Waverly, Dancing Rabbit is always a fun track. 3. The MSU course is much better than it was two years ago. However, it is by no means Waverly or Dancing Rabbit. Avoid Starkville Country Club, Highland Plantation (Dogwood) and Elm Lake if you can.

Posts: 464 08/18/08 09:16 AM	Try Waverly first? Unless you're a member or staying on the property they're going to hurt your feelings. MSU's course is in great shape, but as has been mentioned it's tough to stop a ball on the greens. Highlands is in decent shape, though it isn't forgiving if you're not accurate off the tee. Starkville CC is in absolutely incredible shape. The fairways are as good as anything Waverly has right now and the greens are perhaps in the best shape of the course's life. Though it's still private, so probably not what the original poster is looking for.
