Re: Montez Phillips back with State
It is like a jelous girlfriend or boyfriend dealing with the people at the MSU scout site..
Anytime a report comes out that is not glowing for MSU, they have to rush to have a follow up interview stating the opposite.
It is almost comical at how they work over there.
I will leave it at that.

Your right, Mississippi State is a far far superior academic institution than Ole Miss.

You can be a lawyer and go to MSU.... | #24 | ||

you just have to go to UM later.
And OT, is UMC actually "Ole Miss" or is like how UAB is technically a part of "Alabama"?

You want to do business or management, you go to State. You want to be an accountant, you go to State. You want to do arts, you go to Southern. You want to
be a doctor, you go to State and then UMC. Ole Miss biggest major is elementary ed, now tell me how many of those are there working on that MRS. Engineering,
Biology, pretty much any science you go to State. Music, go to Southern or Delta State. Architecture, State. The three majors that come to mind to go to Ole
Miss for are Pharmacy, Journalism, and law. Hate to break up the feel-good party that is this thread, but while we might be equally sucky athletically,
we're not equal academically.

Would love for you to provide your information on our biggest major being elementary ed and MSU's accounting school being better than Ole Miss. I don't feel like looking it up but I am pretty sure you are wrong.

And while I am not an accountant, I happen to know several, who are not MSU grads, who handle hiring- and they recruit almost exclusively from State. |

Ole Miss is a consensus Top 30 school. State is not. Ole Miss has a PHD program, State does not.
Go research it if you don't believe me. |

Since when did number of degrees given out measure what your best degree is?
Your justification that our number one department is elementary education because that is major with the most degrees given out? Give me a break. |

Business Week and US News are not in the consensus b/c Ole Miss is not in Bus Week's top 30 and State and Ole MIss are both 3rd tier in US News.
they are both solid accounting programs but nothing to write home about. The guy that started ole miss' MBA spent the last part of his career at State I believe. State's program did take a hit when Dr. Daughtry passed.

Then how does that make State a better school than Ole Miss?
Show me evidence that State has a better accounting school, that Southern has a better arts program, and thar State has more students that go to UMC than Ole Miss. Show me one publication that has State ranked any higher than Ole Miss as an overall academic institution? |

...Here we have a classic case of arrogant ignorance. State has a phd program, or did when I was there 3 years ago. Either that or the accounting doctoral
students I met were very lost. My opinion: Om has a slightly better MPA program, and State has a far better Tax program. And I think you could look at the big
4's hiring practices to validate.

SoxFan343 wrote:this one isn't even worth looking up because anybody familiar with the process knows that nearly ALL of UMC's med students are bioengineers or biological sciences from State. Maybe 8dog wants to look these up, or you are welcome to. Maybe the accounting schools are equal, fact is there's not a real good way to measure this. My personal experience has been that employers prefer state accountants. Either way, I didn't even get into Ag, which is just as big as engineering, or any of its spinoffs like soil sciences and turf grass, or Vet, which is the biggest vet school under one roof in America, or meteorology or PGM or any of the other smaller programs which are either pretty unique to us or ranked among the best nationally. |
