Ole Miss has ZERO players receiving Lucky Day scholarships.

I realize most of you here don't scream the 'Lucky Day' storyline.
However, it seems to be a constant topic on Gene's page so I wanted to show once again how ignorant some of them really are over there. Yes, that (especially) includes the ones that run the board....who have stated many times over the years that we use Lucky Day to get around the limits. |

The Polk apologists were looking for any excuse... | #5

possible to explain the shortcomings of our program since Polk returned. Whether the excuses they used had any basis in truth were really of no concern. Polk
is the greatest coach who has ever lived to them, so there was no possible explanation for our sliding program other than forces were at work against us that
Polk simply could not overcome. It was the only possible explanation for the Polk sheep.

how could y'all possibly be successful the past 5 years with the same scholarship limitations we (and most of the rest of college baseball) face? To quote

Why don't you? I sure as hell would. Baseball players with 3.0's aren't that hard to find.

I think Lucky Day is not only GPA based, but also need based. | #12

College baseball players tend to come from middle class to upper class families, so they may be less likely to qualify. Also, what's the deal with those
scholarships? Are they not available to MSU students?

about MSU the way I feel about Ole Miss. So, no, they are not available to MSU students to my knowlege. Go Dogs! |

So, now, can we forever put to bed this notion that polk's recruiting sucked because it wasn't a fair fight?

I find it funny that you have all of these excuses- Lucky Day, MSU is overspending, TOPS, HOPE, and etc., but not working hard enough is not among the answers
for the root of the problem.
That said, I had heard that very few Ole Miss baseball players were on Lucky Day scholarships- in fact I had heard that they had only one to be exact. Whether that was true or not, and I do believe you, I find it very hard to believe that MSU didn't have one player on an academic scholarship. |

This is your opportunity to start the "Louis Winthorpe III Scholarship for really talented athletes who are underprivileged" or something to that
effect.
I've made a huge mistake.

Maybe we could limit our recruiting to the 5-7 counties qualifying for the Summers scholarship. They are usually close to a full ride. Drawback is less
students go to Ole Miss from the qualifying area so Ole Miss students get more.
