I think mine was the Butler NCAA Tourney game. I put my remaining tickets for the weekend on a windshield and then on Saturday, I was kicking myself for not
having tickets to go to the Butler-Louisville game. I know it's tame but I am a cheap ass and I wasted $150 instead of trying to sell them.
A close second was any play that Tommy Kelly took part in.
I support the two most frustrating teams in America: The New Orleans Saints and the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

UT Game Years Ago...2002 or 2003 Maybe... | #21

I'll let cb tell that story if he is around, mostly because I don't remember some things. I think his Dad probably still thinks I'm a complete
moron.
It was a JP game, I was drinking bourbon by 7 AM easy, and it all went downhill from there. I think that is when it hit me that we were gonna suck in football for a long while. Managed to curse out a young MSU couple for looking at me, try to pick a fight with UT fan with stupid sunglasses, and yell at Fulmer consistently for 3 hours straight. I much more tame at the games now.... |

Up the entire game against the wave and then preceded to choke it away. At that moment in time (the second game of the season) i knew Jackie and the team would mail the rest of the season (finished 2-10), and I would have to endure some classic ass kickings before 2003 was over. It took me a while to live down the fact we had lost to Tulane because even in the shittiest of years we never lost to Tulane.
My objective? Well I object to taking a girl out, you know, and buying her dinner and then she won't put out for you.

I punched a 75 year old dude in the nose and hauled ass after the 97 Egg Bowl. Old shyster Ole Miss alky with his 75 year old wife, who had on 20 pounds of
make up and numerous plastic surgeries, got in my face about how a redneck school like State deserved a POS like Jackie. POW!!!!
I kinda felt bad but then realized I bet he never pops his old ass mouth off again. Girl I was with freaked. No nookie for ole Sad ,that night. I ran because I didn't want to go to jail for hitting an old man. I figured I would lose in the court of public opinion. 17 that old bastard. Hope the shit hurt like hell.

Drove 3 hours in a driving rain storm with toronado warnings all around. Then the players with the half ass effort. I realized that day if the players did
not care enough to put fourth an effort. Then why should I. That was the begining.
Nail in the coffin was 2003 Egg Bowl. Left a Thanksgiving day family gathering to go stand in the rain and watch that. Family events take precedence over football games. |

after our best player makes an error that turns a 1 run first inning into a 4 run first inning. After that 100% influenced my mood the rest of the weekend, I
decided it was time to call it quits and find some new hobbies.

Mine had to be the morning after I got my MSU tattoo with a bunch of Oregon fans. Or rather when I read that story, it made me realize that I never want to be
one of those guys who takes stupid things too seriously.
The kicker for me was the 2003 Alabama game. I don't think I've ever seen a poorer effort on the part of our players. We really stank it up and it seemed like Alabama turned it into a practice. After that I resolved to just do a moderate amount of drinking before the game and have fun at all the games. |

Not a sports moment, but... | #28

My son's birth. I am still passionate about State, but it doesn't affect me like it used to. I don't stew over it until the next game. Don't get me wrong. I still dog cuss them if the game isn't going well and get pumped up when they win, but the recovery from a loss or coming back down after a big win isn't quite as long as it use to be. Also, I have got to the point where I don't care about other fan's opinions of State. I personally could care less what anyone else is doing. |

In 2002-2005 When I Used To Sit In Section D, Row 32, Seats 27-34 | #29
|
With Quitbeggin, Dawgstudent, Cuzdawg, Frank The Tank, Squintdawg etc.
Even though we sucked, and I knew we were going to get our a$ses handed to us, I would go just to sit on the 50 yard line and bitch and moan very loudly about every miscue with Quitbeggin, just so that I could get underneath the sheep's skin who were sitting around us. Ol Blue remembers these days. Finally, I grew up and realized that no matter how much I loved Mississippi State football, Mississippi State football was never going to love me back!! That's when I learned that there's more to life than going to football stadium and acting like a moron in the stands. Of course, it's still fun to yell at Gene to get off the field. ![]() |

I think a lot of it comes with age.... | #30
|
Between the ages of 18-24 the level of my sports frustration and how it would affect my daily mood was at an all time high. I can remember not talking to
people on Monday because of a loss on the weekend and just being an asshole, more than I am usually, just because Ole Miss lost. I used to like to watch MSU
lose, now I just don't care. Ten years ago, MSU's success would bother the shit out of me, now Im just indifferent. It helps with being objective. I
thought Michael Brown was a more dominant offensive lineman than Michael Oher last year, 10 years ago I would have argued that point, just to argue.

Wow, that's a new one to me. Impressive. And yes, I do agree with you that the old guys need to watch it. I've run into my fair share of old guys running their mouths. If you're too old to defend yourself, then you don't need to be running your mouth. Granted, I don't think I'd ever have it in me to clock one, but I can see where you're coming from. |

I agree. The salt in the wound is usually worse than the wound. The losses don't bother me like they used to, but having to listen to someone shoot off
their mouth as if they personally had done something to affect the outcome can really get under your skin. I am not one of those people who get into the whole
we conversation. You know the you can't say we are having a good season, because you aren't on the field bs. But when they get up in your face with
the we just kicked your ass or quit your whining we are just better than you, it can really get your blood boiling.
As far as age, yeah I was a loud mouth in college and the first couple of years after graduation, but the farther that I get away from school and the bigger the age difference between me and the players the less personal I take it. |

2002 Auburn Game | #34 | ||

I walked home from the game when those bastards went up 35-14 yelling things at the top of my lungs that should've got me killed by somebody. I don't
think I've been so pissed off since.
The worst tantrum I ever threw (although I didn't learn a lesson from it or realize that sports shouldn't affect me the way it was) was the '99 Kentucky football game when Westerfield kicked the game winner. That, to me, was the worst referee'd game I'd ever watched and the whiskey was telling me to leave the stadium (we were losing at the time) and go wait on the referees to show back up at their van parked next to the stadium, since there wasn't much time left in the game. So, I waited. Westerfield kicked the game winner, the refs were escorted to their van, and I was there waiting to give them a piece of my mind. I started barking at all of them and took a swing at one of em, when an MSU official came at me. At that point, I realized what the hell I had just done and took off running. I ran from the stadium all the way to the Cotton District to my apartment, torn & bloody pants and all. What an idiot I used to be. |

when Jamont hit that 3 at the buzzer to send our game against UK to overtime in Atlanta. There were these annoying UK fans sitting right in front of us that
kept turning around and saying "your team won't even make the NIT Tournament" and my only response was that saying "NIT Tournament was
redundant, because it was like saying ATM machine."
I dont think he ever pieced it together. I got to feeling lightheaded when AJohnson picked off that pass against Bama this year too and took it "to the distance!" But I was pretty hammered anyway, so take that with a grain of salt. |

At some point, Casey Dick threw an incomplete lateral to Darren McFadden. An MSU defender scooped it up with nothing between him and the goal line but open
field, but the side judge ruled it an incomplete forward pass.
With my sleeping 2-year-old daughter in my arms, I stood up, tried to cover her ears, and yelled, "That's bulls**t!" That's when I knew it had gone too far. Don't get me wrong, I'm still passionate. But ever since then, I've done a better job of keeping things in perspective. |

That was you guys? I sat on row 24 and remember hearing y'all. Good stuff. And yes, inevitably, someone would get the redass over it and start yelling
back, or move to another section.
I once got cussed out by a woman at the end of a game who told me Croom was her cousin and she didn't appreciate all the criticism. I told her I didn't care if he was her husband, when you suck, you suck. That wasn't pretty. Luckily, I'm mellowing in my old age.
