Gene's Page is very pleased and excited to announce that former Bulldog athletes Matt Wyatt (Football, 1996-99) Carl Nichols (Basketball, 1988-91) and Matthew Brinson (Baseball, 2000-03) will be joining our already great team of writers as columnists for the sports that they played while at Mississippi State University.

The below post was from Gene's message board. And it claims that Matt is making the move to Gene'spage. I wanted to assure you guys this was not true! I have talked with Matt and while he is busy getting ready for his wedding and moving into a new house... he is equally excited about being a part of the Bulldawg Junction team.

within 3 feet of each other yesterday around 6:10. I can tell you, it was all one party could do to not bitch slap the other party. It was funny. Fortunately for Gene, there will always be a market for sunshine pumping. The true sheep want to keep getting their sunshine no matter how many times it proves to be inaccurate. Therefore, nothing will ever put Gene out of business unless someone comes along with a site that gives an even sunnier outlook on MSU athletics, which I don't think is possible. We have the same type of fans that will always keep Chuck, Jeff, and Yancy in business no matter how inaccurate they are.

Does the Swan know that Brinson posts over here? You can tell he's feeling the pressure of Bulldawg Junction. There have been very few changes over there in the last 5 or 6 years and now all of the sudden, he has 3 new writers for 3 different sports.

Exactly, Gene won't be put out of business. However, the days of Gene's site being the top pay site for MSU athletics are coming to an end. The ones that want good coverage minus constant sunshine pumping are going to BDJ. The sunshiners will stay with Gene. Gene loses money and his site loses prestige.

Obviously, Matthew will be the baseball writer for my site. Former MSU basketball player Carl Nichols will be the basketball writer. I'm waiting to hear back from my football writer. I jumped the gun on his annoucement yesterday. He has to talk to someone before I can officially announce him.

I support the two most frustrating teams in America: The New Orleans Saints and the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

for 8 years and it takes an upstart website in his 8th year to get him to do something creative.

It just magnifies how lazy he has gotten. He has Murray writing the articles, Robertson doing the recruiting. All Gene had to do was rest on his laurels powered by Scout.com. He better thank God everyday that he was the first to market b/c he sure isn't successful b/c he's good at what he does.

Hasn't Gene's page been around longer than 8 years. My father in law has told me that it was around in the early to mid 90's. I've met Gene one time and he was very nice to me. But he does run the site with a very totalitarian-esque standard.

Its been around since 1996 or so, but he didn't turn it into a business until around 2000. It was just free website back then. I remember thinking the skuttle butt was gospel.

Back when there was something to be positive about and our football team was competing for an SEC title every year (for about 3 years) in the late 90s. Then we started sucking. And Gene still pumped the sunshine like we were still going to compete for SEC titles every year. I liked hearing it when it was true, but hated hearing it when I knew it was ridiculous.

Mississippi State has something better, Eric DuBose, Keith Dilgard, David
Hooten, Jeremy Jackson, Scot Polk, Van Johnson and Brett Wheeler. The best
pitching staff in the SEC, bar none.
