runoff is tomorrow between Travis Childers and Greg Davis. Are we finally going to get a Bulldog (Davis) back to DC? Thoughts?
So maybe the new meaning of "Croomed" should be you just got your ass beat. And, given time, Sylvester is going to do it to you again. --Dan Wetzel

I live in the 3rd so I don't keep up with it as much as I should. Nevertheless, I present my prediction.

Davis has Desoto County. It will be hard for Childers to overcome that. | #3

but there seems to be a sense of animosity in large segments of the region toward a DeSoto based candidate that's also being reflected (fueled?) in the
Tupelo-Columbus media.

...Childers did very well in NE Mississippi. It's going to be a matter of which candidate is able to get his voters to the polls for the fourth election
this spring.

any chance they can both lose? | #6

I don't want to see either win after the campaign they have had.

And it will be interesting to see how that pans out. | #7

Desoto has more votes than Lowndes and Lee counties combined.

Pretty much. You have to wonder if Davis hired a bunch of preschoolers to run his campaign. It is absolutely preposterous for a Republican to let a Democrat
even think about winning a MS-1 race.

Saying Davis is a Republican is laughable. The guy was a Democrat for years and changed parties so he could win in Desoto County.

Many people, myself included, are not going to the polls due to their campaigns. If I do vote, I am going to write in Rule <17> you both.

It is all silly geographical backlash. The two major newspaper endorsements Childers picked up talked more about Davis being from Desoto County (or the far
"Northwest part of the district") than anything else.

Both candidates have turned me off with the negative ads. If anyone cares some truth about their claims in the ads can be found here.

They are both slimebags.
In other words, they will fit right in in DC.

those stupid things in the mail EVERY FREAKING DAY about how the other candidate jacks up property taxes, doesn't pay his taxes, defends convicted felons,
rapes kittens, or humps doorknobs. It's been non-stop, and any reasonable person would/should be turned off by all of this crap.
I know that I feel good about the future of politics for MS and this country with one of these two goobers being in Washington. |

Just when this race couldnt get any uglier, the DCCC releases this:

Davis couldn't even win the Student Body President Election at MSU when I was in school (lost to a guy with good name recognition, Eric Zacharias...). How
do you expect him to win a Congressional seat?!?!?

It is absolutely preposterous for a Republican to let a Democrat even think about winning a MS-1 race. You are going to see a lot of that around the country this year. This year's GOP = Jackie's Bulldogs circa 2003. It's going to be a blowout.

Endless war in Iraq Afganistan mismanaged Poor economy due to the credit crisis caused by lack of government oversight, as we let the market be the market Incompetent managment as illustrated by the Katrina initial response Out of control spending as after 6 years of a Republican controlled Congress AND Whitehouse, as illustrated by the Bride to NOWHERE in Alaska Good year to be a democrat....maybe they cant do better, but if you dont punish bad behavior you reinforce it.

Connecting Wright to Obama is a legitimate political issue. Connecting Wright to every Dem and every Obama supporter is taking it too far. McCain even spoke out against them for that ad. |
