At what point does gas prices affect your ability to follow State?... |

Will it hinder your trips in the fall if it stays at the current level or goes up?

We have a free place to stay and I don't pay for tickets. I show up, buy my beer, eat atleast one meal free. I don't mind paying the gas.

Gas Is Out Of Control | #3 | ||

Until we get a president in office who does not have his/her investments in oil, there is nothing that can be done about it.
Gas this morning next to my office was $3.51. At 11:00, it had gone up to $3.64. As we get closer to Memorial Day, it will only get higher. PACK YOUR BAGS BUSH, AND GET OUT OF TOWN!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]() |

Its getting there fast. I didnt go to any baseball games this year. | #5
|
It wasnt immediately because of money (gas prices) but thats the first time in 10 years except ('05) that I didnt go to a single game. Football...I will
still go to Baton Rouge (closer than Vegas) and at least 4 home games. Hell, it will probably have to get around $5+ per gallon to keep me away from football.

I have already purchased tickets and made my donation so I feel somewhat obligated to go. Plus tailgating is just as much fun to catch up with old friends.
Traveling from the Memphis suburbs is not too bad if you can carpool and get others to help pay for gas. My problem is driving my 13 mpg truck back forth
hauling tailgating equipment is not as cost effective as taking my buddies camry who gets 25+ mpg. I think in a gas crunch we might go lighter on the
tailgating and just bring some lawn chairs and the smokey joe grill instead of tents, coolers, tv, grill, etc..

I hear rising cost have more to do with the anticipation that China is about to have a large demand for gas/oil as they are starting their industrial boom.
So, the prices are being raised to lower demand. So, the reserves are not to depleted once China's demand starts.
However, I tend to agree that is more to do with someone (who ever that may be) making a profit more than anything. To keep in thread, it will already effect it. I was contemplating making more games this year but with 300 miles to get there......I will probably just make the SEC home games not on TV. |

I Did Not Say Obama Or Hillary Would Make Them Go Down | #9
|
In fact, I am voting for McCain.
At least Hillary and McCain have both said that they are in favor of a federal gas tax holiday during the summer, which would lower the price of gas by $.20. It may never happen, but at least they are generating a buzz about it. What has Bush said about this...................... nothing!!!!!!! ![]() |

I thought Pelosi and Reid said they were going to make gas prices go down? They have gone up over a dollar a gallon since the democrats took control of the
house and senate. And it's not their fault. There are some things that the president or the house or sentate don't have control over, such as OPEC and
gas prices.

Since I live in N.C. now, there is absolutely no way I could make any home games unless I fly home for the Egg Bowl/Thanksgiving. Even if it does get to
$4.25ish, I do plan to go to Knoxville and Atlanta to watch them. After that, pray that do well and ESPN, JP and others book them. And just being a college
football fan in general, I am also planning trips to Wake Forest (for Ole Miss) and South Carolina since it's only on a little over an hour from where I
live. And FWI, there is an article on sports teams and the cost of gas in today's USA Today.

exxon mobil has made 20 BILLION dollars in profits. Thats just unreal. They can drop the 17'ing price of gas
On another note, i'm loving Hillary staying in and looking like an idiot. She is just shocked she is losing and not able to attain her God-given right to be President. I am lving this so much.

But I am now. And mostly just because I would love to see those greedy-ass oil companies go belly up. Nothing we can do about prices? Fine. Better make
your damn money now, because I pray to God that in 10 years you can't sell your gas for $.25 a gallon because everyone is using something else, like
hydrogen.

There's a problem with that and Obama, economists, etc point it out | #17
ExtremeDog wrote: The $.20 per gallon is going to have to be made up somehow. Current proposals call for that shortfall to come from a new tax on oil company profits. Looks good on paper, but they're just going to pass that cost right back to the consumer in the form of higher gas prices. In other words, there will be no net change. |

It won't affect me for the home games at all, but I don't go to road games anymore. I used to go to a couple of road games each season, but I quit that
a couple of years back. It really sucks because I enjoy the road games just as much, if not more than, the home games. The last time we played at Gainesville
was the last road game I've been to.

Terrible hijack here but, when President Bush took office on January 20, 2001, the national average gas price was $1.46 per gallon. Today, the national average
is $3.67 and that is for the cheap stuff. Here on Bush's Official Bio it lists one of his
career items as "owner, oil and gas business. Coincidence that gas prices have shot up? I think not.
To stay in thread, No I will not attend more than one game a year due to W. |

If that makes or breaks your week, you have bigger problems than a tank of gas.
I haven't seen this much uproar over such a small amount of money since the State considered the tobacco/grocery tax swap.
