You're Bill Self...what do you do?... |

Take a huge raise and go coach at your alma mater, OK State, who has a decent basketball tradition or stay at Kansas where you just won the national
championship. Discuss.
I support the two most frustrating teams in America: The New Orleans Saints and the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

for now, and wait for the big gig. You gotta believe Duke will be on the table within 2-3.

OSU has what, two final fours since 95? They're not an awful program. And that money you are set for life, and it's your alma mater. Kansas fans can't be too mad, you got them a damn championship.

sorry, I watched Office Space last night... anyway, I'd do just what he's doing.. lobbying for more years and more money then stay at Kansas. OSU is
nice but it's not Kansas. You can tell every recruiting class they're going to the Final Four and chances are, you won't be lying to them. OSU has
a nice little program but you can't get the same caliber of player consistently at OSU as you can at Kansas.

What do you do if you're Kansas? | #8 | ||
|
If OSU offers him as much as has been rumored, do you match it if you're Kansas?
I'm not sure I would. Bill Self is obviously a very good coach, but is he good enough to be paid double everyone else? I say no. Also, Kansas has a pretty damn good track record hiring coaches the last few times around (Larry Brown, Roy Williams, Bill Self).

Tough choice | #9 | ||
|
Self's choice is return home to a boatload of money and the resentment that might accompany that, along with the pressure to produce. They won't be
paying him that kind of coin to be in the final four of the Big 12 tournament every year. But, it is your alma mater, and you can make so much money there that
you can coach til they fire you or you quit, then never work again unless you want to. That's appealing.
On the other hand OSU is not Kansas though they have nothing to be ashamed of. Kansas will be in a position almost every year to be in the Sweet 16, and every few years in the Final Four. Winning is what the coaches I know live for. The competitor in him has to like where he is now. I think I would stay at KU for a while longer because I like to win, but maybe in 10-12 more years if that job comes open again, and the money is still on the table, then I might go for it and ride off into the sunset. "Tuberville has had one stellar season in his career and suddenly he talks like he is Knute Rockne, Bear Bryant and Bob Neyland all wrapped into one." - Paul Finebaum, November 1, 2005 "How is our program in shambles? We had the talent to be in a bowl game, or at least compete for it this year. The reason we didn't was coaching. If we make a halfway decent hire, we should be bowling in that guy's first year." - Ole Miss Sheep Rebel Bruiser, on the day they fired O (HDN was later confirmed to be more than a halfway decent hire) |

He's going to be starting over next year anywayAldridge is a true freshman (who looked pretty damn good v. unc and memphis) and only Rush is a guaranteed first round pick. Not sure of everyone's class but they are very deep and might be pretty good next year too. |

Chalmers probably back. Aldridge looked really good though. I don't think he will experience the Florida effect though.
