Due to unpopular demand, I have now started a blog about baseball, specifically about baseball in Mississippi. I appreciate any comments, concerns, and input.
Hopefully the link will work, or I will feel like a jackass. Again.

I check this board a lot more than I will check my favorites. It will remind me to read it. Looks good.
I support the two most frustrating teams in America: The New Orleans Saints and the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Couple of things.......... | #4 | ||

I'm sure you know Jet Butler is trying to catch this summer, do you know how he is doing?
Also you stated you didn't know if there would be a better player in Ms than Kirk Presley ever. There will always be a better player to come along. You also called Tupelo a "super power" in high school (Ms), I only see South Panola in football as a "super power" in Ms. Good luck on your blog. |

as far as the superpower thing goes.
I haven't heard how Jet is doing as far as his catching is going, it's still probably in the formative stages at this point. Hopefully he is working out with someone- like Barry Lyons- on learning how to catch. It's probably going to take awhile. It's an interesting concept, and a good move for him. If nothing else, it will make him more versatile, increase his draft stock, and probably keep him on the team. That said, catching is the most difficult position to learn in my opinion. You have to not only learn the defensive aspects of the position, but also the pitching aspect of the position. And then you have to worry about hitting. It's not easy- most people switch from catcher to another position- like Craig Biggio- rather than vice versa. As far as MSU and Jet catching for them- I find it hard to believe that he could realistically beat out Wes Thigpen or even Kolby Byrd for even a platoon spot. Remember John Cohen pulled Ryan Duffy out of a mideweek game in the middle of an inning because he was making a ton of mistakes behind the plate. He's not going to hurt the team to try to up someone's draft stock. Honestly, I thought the idea was a little surprising myself. He seems like he kind of loses concentration out there, but maybe having to constantly think of things and keep his head in the game will actually help him. But usually you're looking for a guy with good leadership skills, a cannon for an arm, and a player who is good fundamental player. That last part is my concern with Jet. I do think that Jet has some good offensive skills and I could see him DH, but catcher is the one position that places a premium on defense. My hope is that Jet can actually go out and catch a couple of summer league games, if nothing else just to get the feel of it. I say the pissers at Scott Field should have his [LT] name and we could even add some alliteration - The Templeton Troughs. - dawgstudent ----- 9) If you knew that Rachel Ray, your creation (as we all are) was going to be on TV and be famous, why did you give her such a small rack? It's not that I gave her such a tiny set of tits, it's that I gave her a big booty and thick waist to match. Hey, I was drunk that weekend. I also created the I-49 traffic circle in Alexandria, LA, two members of Creed, and the McRib that weekend. Cut me some <17>ing slack. ----- "When Jerious came on his visit I told him I wanted to pass number 12 down to a talented player. I told him it was him and I told the coaches about it. At the time he wanted to get number 3. I told him, 'Look I am leaving and this number 12 is a number you can live up to.' I think he really lived up to it. I am very proud of him getting drafted this year and I hope he does some good things." - Dicenzo Miller |
