Take that for what it's worth. I don't question the numbers Randolph has put up in his career or his ability to score. But as it's been said many times in this thread, you have to be concerned about his attitude and lack of defense. I hope he decides to grow up and doesn't have anymore issues, but I won't hold my breath. Seeing as they've now traded for a power forward, it'll be interesting to see what the Grizzlies do in the free agent market. There's still some money to spend. |

Someone explain to me how the Grizzlies will be set up for the 2010 free agent class? I'm really not very knowledgeable of what sort of money they will be
committed to next year and how much cap space they potentially have to work with to get a superstar next year.
I do know this, we essentially got rid of Darko Milicic and in return got a 20/10 guy. Sure, he's a headcase, as are many NBA players. I'm not going to freak out about it. The biggest need now is a decent backup PG to Conley. They could make some noise... |

I don't know how much they will have to spend but they will have some of their own players to lock up starting next year. I would also imagine that next
year's draft is when they would plan on getting their future PF and once again I understand he has been a pain in the ass, but he hasn't exactly been
with successful franchises. They all had issue well beyond Randolph

Pretty good insight on the trade - I think both parties benefit (can't get worse for the Griz). Clippers free up minutes and payroll. Grizzlies get PF scoring/rebounding - and aren't committed 5 years (David Lee). Thabeet/Gasol can complement Randolph on his "questionable" D. If he's a bust, he can have the warm spot on the bench left over from Milicic. He's pricier than Darko, but worth the extra cost seeing that Randolph can actually produce. Additionally, I still don't get the character concerns on Randolph. Once again, he's replacing Darko Milcic, the scary f'ing "I'm going to rape your mother and children" Serbian. If the young impressionable minds on the Grizzlies roster can put up with him, surely they can put up with another headcase. It's the NBA - at least one headcase is unavoidable - might as well be a prodcuctive one, right? I don't think the Grizzlies fate has been sealed yet. They have the potential to be pretty decent this year and hopefully will be set up to pick up an all-star caliber player in free agency next year. I'm not going to call Chris Wallace the NBA's best GM, or even in the top half. But, it seems that he get's ripped for any move made short of signing Lebron James to a league minimum contract. I think this was a very realistic move. |

I don't think its Wallace, I think is Heisley. | #27 | ||

I wake up to this after seeing Charlie V at 5yr-$40M thinking the bar was set for David Lee.
Let's look at this in terms of desert. Let's talk in terms of talent only, not character, not effort. Let's say David Lee is Cheesecake and Z-Bo is Cheesecake with a litte extra, let's call it "Blueberry Topping." How many people would pick the Cheesecake with Blueberry if you had knowledge that the topping was laced with cyanide? Didn't think so. We already have had to deal with Darius Miles' bad influence around OJ when he got arrested 6 weeks ago. Remember this nuggett from the CA? The Griz grew weary of Miles' waning work ethic and his relationship with rookie guard O.J. Mayo. There was widespread concern in the organization about Miles' off-the-court influence on Mayo near the end of the season. Mem CA LinkI'm really pissed off about this, Period. He may avg 23 and 11 the first month of the season, yet I'll still be waiting for "it" to happen................ |

Zach Randolph is now a ________.
If your a fan of the team that fills in the blank, it is a bad thing. There's no need to look at points, rebounds, contract, etc.
Here are just a few of the key ingredients: dynamite, pole vaulting, laughing gas, choppers - can you see how incredible this is going to be? - hang gliding,
come on!
