it was cold and rainy, and we didn't feel like dealing with that. What a choke chob. And some ridiculous off the leg deflected pass.
That was the first weekend the Burgundy Room opened there I believe. I got wasted somewhere, woke up without my buddy or my cell phone, and drove back to Oxford without him, as I had no way to find him. Turned out he had my cell phone. His first ride back he found was two days later. Good times.

The first was when Kevin Prentiss returned the punt for a touchdown to give us a 4th quarter lead over Tennessee in the SEC Championship Game.
The second was leading Florida 47-21 in the 4th quarter in 2000 and honestly believing I was watching the best Mississippi State football team ever. BFB |

that game was the ultimate Egg Bowl for me. Both teams were pretty good, you had Ole Miss with Deuce and Joe Gunn and Romaro going up against MSU's #1
ranked defense. It seemed like every play was a big play almost from the kickoff on. It was on Thanksgiving, to.
You had Ole Miss dominating the TOP in the first quarter, I remember Smoot making an INT that stole a sure TD from Ole Miss that was just an absolutely unbelievable pick, being down 20-6 and knowing that we had them right where we wanted them, Dicenzo Miller's run for a TD where he just shot thorough a hole in the line and the safeties had no chance to react, Donald Lee jumping 10 feet in the air to haul in a TD, Madkin to CJ wide open at the 20, The kick by Bean and the pick by Eugene Clinton, and of course Westerfield's kick. Tearing down the goal posts and watching Ole Miss's cheeleaders being pussies and getting into a fight with Wes Shiver's brother. It was my senior year at State to. It was a magical evening. I'm ashamed to admit, I have never been to an egg bowl. Being from out of state I was always home for Thanksgiving. Watching those games in 98 and 99 I wish I would have stayed in town. |

Sitting comfortably in my recliner in our my living room in San Diego watching the game. Drinking.
Screaming at the TV. My now ex-wife, a Texas native, and thus, Longhorn fan (who to my knowledge has never stepped foot on the campus) throughout the game was
alternating between telling me how obnoxious I was being and how State was pathetic and going to lose and that even though the entire neighborhood could hear
my cowbell, the team couldn't. She also kept bringing up the previous Cotton Bowl. I told her they could hear my
cowbell, <17> the neighbors, and that her loudmouth was 10 times more obnoxious when the <17>ing Cowboys were on. In the waning minutes of the
game, she began needling me more. And three minutes later, she couldn't say a damn word, and stomped out the back door to the deck to the sound of me
giving her shit and ringing my cowbell and pointing out that State was 2-1 against the Tea Sippers. She hardly spoke to me for a week after that. Thus the
beginning of the end, and a Win-Win for me: State won the Egg Bowl, and 5 months later we were filing for divorce. Granted, the divorce was more about the
fact that she was <17>ing around on me with a guy she worked with, but that Egg Bowl game was the first of many giant arguments that she started over
stupid shit.

I was at 80 Bama, but at 11 years old, it was hard to understand the significance of the win at that time
I was at the 98 Egg Bowl, and that will always be my favorite But the feelings I felt and all the emotions going through me when we ran out of the tunnel in Atlanta for the SEC championship, I dont know that i'll ever feel like that again

Can't narrow it down to just one...
*'98 Arkansas game, Hazelwood for the win. This was the point of no-return for me. After this game, I knew I was a Bulldog for life. *'98 Championship Game. Obviously, only parts of it. But the lead up to the game, and taking that 4th quarter lead...wow...I just try to forget the rest of it. *'99 Egg Bowl. Amazing finish. *'00 Snow Bowl. Never been to a game like that before or since. The first half was rough to get through, but the second half and overtime, that's what it's all about. I remember finally getting back to the hotel room after a couple hour drive on ice to watch highlights on sportscenter. *The pair of Florida wins. |
