do we have a snowball's chance in hell with this guy? does any team have an edge at this point?
I also recall a thread about how this coach steers players away from the state...what's up with that if true? if so, why? and would any other state tolerate a coach doing the same thing? |

The scoop is...none of his top prospects are coming to MSU or OM. It's rare that they are even allowed to camp with either of us during their senior year.
I think the last time this topic came up several pinheads here decided that they don't give a shit if Samsel steers all of his players out of state as long as it upsets OM fans. Granted a few posters also thought it was an issue. Personally, I'd like to see the MSU & OM fans in OB take his ass to task over it just like what would happen if he was a coach in Louisiana or Alabama.  Your Signature ...

but Mullen would likely have to find Samsel a job as an assistant or with a promise to become an assistant.
I believe that's what Samsel is looking to do at Bama, except Saban is just stringing him along with no plans to ever hire the guy. Robinson will sign where Samsel tells him to sign. You'll have to give Samsel a reason for Robinson to sign with you, and I think anything short of a job offer wouldn't be enough. There is zero chance Robinson signs with Ole Miss. Samsel has a grudge against us, and that won't change. Your chances aren't a whole lot better, but like I said, I think you might be able to get him if you hired Samsel. I just don't know if Robinson would be worth it to hire that guy. |

something causes Robinson to fall down Saban's board. Grades, trouble with the law would do it. And, of course, it would help if James Stone has a good
fall.
Then, after the Saban hurdle is cleared, Mullen would only have to fight UM, UT, UArk and half of CUSA to get him. |

he has a chance to get hired by a college school? why is he more pissed off at ole miss?
it would seem something could be done if he really has this type of grudge... how he has this much control over the player's decisions is pretty weird... |

It's not that weird for a coach to have that much control over a player's decisions. You're looking at the situation from a person who likely had a
quality home life with parents who had a bigger influence on your life than anyone else. A lot of players look to their coaches as much, and sometimes more,
than their parents. In those cases, if the coach says "you should go to Alabama", the player goes to Alabama. If I was a top athlete and my coach
suggested I go to Alabama, I'd say thanks, but I'd still make my own decision.
If you read some of the OBHS interviews, it's evident that Samsel has full control of the flow of information to and from his players, and it's evident he's in control of the recruitment for most of them. As far as his grudge with Ole Miss, it dates back to David Cutcliffe. Cutcliffe wouldn't offer one of Samsel's players from Lafayette, because he didn't think the player was good enough. Samsel got ticked about it, and he's held a grudge ever since then against us, even though we've had two coaching changes since. I believe I saw where about a dozen of Samsel's players since that player have signed D-1 scholarships, and none of them have signed with Ole Miss. That's a little strange for a coach that's been coaching within an hour of our campus for so long. That stuff shouldn't be going on. I'm surprised our coaches haven't done anything about it. Nutt doesn't seem content to sit idly by and let it continue. They've done what they can to patch the relationship, and Samsel hasn't budged. He's still not returning calls, and he's still not bringing his players to our campus. |

As others have suggested before, they shouldn't tolerate their coach steering players out of state like he does. And they could put a stop to it if they
had the backbone to do it.

They have a pretty good program now with his methods, and they want to keep it that way. They want to eventually beat South Panola, and they don't think they can if Samsel isn't the coach doing things his way. When you run into a true OBHS football fan, you will be able to tell if you start talking about how Samsel needs to be run out of town for steering his players out of state. They get defensive and try to say it's all lies, etc., because they don't want to see their chance to beat SP be forced out. |
