as a Cubs fan, this sucks. I'd give my left nut to see DeRosa back in Cubbie Blue again... he's probably going to reek havoc on us now

I know Perez is a top prospect for the Cards, but still he's just a reliever. Unless the PTBNL is some kind of stud prospect, I have a hard time believing
that the Indians could not have gotten more for DeRosa. There were lots of teams interested. They should have held onto him for a few more weeks, and kept
leveraging teams against one another to get a couple more players namely a starting pitcher or two. I can't believe the Indians practically gave him away
like this. Congrats Cardinal fans, you just stole Mark DeRosa for 40 cents on the dollar.
Props to DerHntr for the fark. |

the Cardinals also have Jason Motte, who's pretty good as a closer prospect as well. I think he's a little bit behind Perez at this point, but not by
much. Then they also have Jess Todd, who I think will be a pretty good relief pitcher in a couple of years. I don't think Ryan Franklin is the long term
answer, but if he keeps pitching well, you might as well keep him there.
I wasn't sure that this trade was going to go down because I had heard that the Indians were asking a lot for DeRosa. I'm glad that they got him because he can play SS or 3B and he will give the Cardinals time to develop Brett Wallace, who they've kind of rushed through the minors, and I'm not exactly 100% confident that Troy Glaus will come back, and if he does, how healthy will he be? But most importantly it gives the Cardinals offense a little more teeth. "Because just being good kids who make good grades isn't good enough anymore."- John Cohen
"This league doesn't care how hard you try. This league cares about having real players who can perform certain skills. If you try to throw a fastball in and you miss the middle of the plate, the league doesn't care that you're a really good kid. The game says you better execute the pitch." - John Cohen |
