1)We didn't have any cornerbacks when I got here. Pegues, Fitzhugh and Jeramie Johnson were signed as corners, but weren't.
2)You can't play CB if you have never played.
3)Its difficult to play CB when your offense doesen't score points.

The Swan has a Q&A with Melvin, who basically says:
1)We didn't have any cornerbacks when I got here. Pegues, Fitzhugh and Jeramie Johnson were signed as corners, but weren't. 2)You can't play CB if you have never played. 3)Its difficult to play CB when your offense doesen't score points. |

And what Melvin said about Pegues is so true. He never played CB in high school. He played safety on defense.

There are 3 good things that came out of the Sly Croom debacle............ | #3
|
1) We disproved the theory that hiring a black head coach would guarantee that we could pick and choose from the best black football players and they would all
want to come and play for the 1st AA in the SEC. The fact is most players don't give a Damn about race anymore they just want to win and be put in a
position to go to the next level.
2) We helped change the perception of racism at MSU. No one could ever say we did not at least try to give a minority a chance. 3) The Slytanic was instrumental in bringing down that albatross know as Larry Templeton. |

Can you imagine... | #4 | ||

how defeating and frustrating it had to be to either be on defense or on the defensive staff during the Croom era?
At least I got to ease my suffering with a flask at hand. |

When a coach is in charge, they're off limits. You better watch what you say about Croom/Polk or you'll be banned. But then once said coach
"retires on their own terms" under LT, or gets fired by Byrne, they basically say the same stuff that we've been saying the whole time.

I hope the bus backs up as well.
As for how many teams have lost when the defense holds a team to 3 and scores 2? I would bet my entire life savings (which aint much) that this has never happened before on any level in the history of football... Absolutely inexcusable and completely embarassing. |

Almost makes the 5 years of wandering in the wilderness worth it. Just think --- if we had had a kicker last year, we would probably be looking at year 6
coming up. Damn, that is a frightening thought.

But you would have to admit | #19

that if Croom had won 6-8 games a year, it would have been a lot harder to get rid of LT.
