Someone give me the scoop on Columbus Falcon football. Particularly why they have not faired any better than what they have. Back in the day, we had two 4A
schools. Caldwell had poor coaching, no off season training, and little interest from the student body in general (I will not speak for Lee as I did not go
there). Just show up for spring practice, two-a-days, and run the wing T during the season. So, I can understand why we were not that great. But, I was sure
hoping when they combined the schools. That one large high school would combine the talent and resources. Which would equal success. However, it does not
seem to be panning out that way. So, I guess my question is if there is an interest in the community, board of education, school to start competing on a
higher level in football.
Also, I see they had a couple of big guys last year but I don't see where they may have gone searching Scout.
This town I live in now is comparable to Columbus in population. However, they are crazy about their high school football. Their recreation leagues for the little kids are huge. They have flag football in the spring. Their junior high teams have cuts because so many come out for football. The high school coaches are involved in the evaluation of the junior high kids. The high school has an indoor facility in which the players are expected to train in year around. Anyway.......just curious if Columbus is moving in that direction.
If Batesville can put together and produce that kind of team and talent, Columbus should be able to as well. It would be very beneficial for MSU if Columbus produced more talent. Because even though Todd thinks State fans from Columbus are lame, the town does have a lot of State fans that would have a big influence on talent out of there.
