2000 State vs 2008 Ole Miss.... |

Who wins with both teams playing at their peak? Discuss.
I support the two most frustrating teams in America: The New Orleans Saints and the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

On passes from the Florida great, Brock Berlin. | #21

Florida had -78 yards rushing. Yeah, we gave up damned near 500 yards in the air, but as DS said, 150 or so was in garbage time to Brock Berlin.
Rex Grossman lit our ass up though. |

Ashley Cooper had hit Dontae Walker in the mouth just once? At their peaks, the 1999 bunch would have beaten Madkin down and made him piss himself.

I strongly agree with you. Yes, the 1999 defense was great, but people like to ignore the fact that we got 8-0 that year without beating anyone good.
I'm not trying to take away what that team accomplished, but I'd take the 2000 team as long as I can restrict it to the first 10 games.

I will concede that the Florida and Auburn games in 2000 | #24
|
were probably the best back-to-back games in MSU football history. I do think the 1999 team would have won both of those games too though.

quarter before giving way to redshirt freshman Kevin Fant for the rest of the game.

We controlled our own destiny in 1998 | #26

Just like 1997 and 2000 all we had to do was beat Arkansas and Ole Miss to win the West. What help did we need?

Obviously, we peaked the end of September/begining of October in 2000. Looks like OM peaked towards the end of the season as they followed up the UF wins
in September with a loss to USC.

I disagree | #28 | ||

The 99 team wouldn't have come close to hanging 43 on Florida that day.

They'd have won something like 20-13.

You're right | #30 | ||

But I don't think the 99 offense would've scored 20. I would say the score would've been 13-7 in favor of Florida. Our D was unstoppable, no
question. But our offense was pretty bad.

I think | #31 | ||

that if we had run a hurry up type of offense with Madkin and Matt Wyatt and the coaches telling them what to call, and not to think about anything else
(I'll never forget his deer in the headlights look he always had), I think the offense would have been a lot better off.
I also think we would have been a lot better off playing Dontae and Dicenzo more and Chris Rainey less. "Because just being good kids who make good grades isn't good enough anymore."- John Cohen

to fall flat on his ass. We did control our destiny but it was caused by a miracle.
