so far? 1 three star and a bunch of NR's (which means they've garnered little attention from the recruiting services before this year).
I know it's early, but so far Mullen is on par with early Croom efforts. |

yeah it's disappointed me so far. i realize the man has an uphill battle when it comes to our record last year, and other things, but it seems like this
time last year we had a pretty good class already.

I was hoping for more than what we got.
I'm sure we will get better play calling out of this group -- I just hope they can coach them up as well, cause it doesn't appear they can set the world on fire w/ recruiting. |

you'll probably see coaches slow playing their lower profile recruits that they normally would try to get early commits from. They don't want to end up
closing strong and have to tell a bunch of their lesser guys that they don't have scholarships on signing day.

It's really not fair to look at Texas. They just about finish recruiting by May every year. They have a certain number of spots, and they are one of the
few places where they have more players wanting to come to Texas than they have spaces, so they basically get to pick and choose the majority of their commit
list before the summer starts, leaving Mack Brown plenty of time to go after a handful of guys for the final 2 or 3 spots in his class every year.

I still think that rule is stupid and serves no purpose.
The APR and 85 and 25 scholarship limits already take care of everything that Slive's new rule is attempting to curtail. |

Let me point something out - Texas's class is made up of ALL Texas recruits. Bama is pretty much Southeast, but we know Saban is a recruiting beast so not
surprised. OM doesn't have anything great early coming off the Cotton Bowl and being expected to have a very good year this.
The reason is there aren't a lot of 4-5 stars in Mississippi. Right now there is (1) 5-star player, Damien Robinson. He hasn't even attended any of the MS school camps, making the rumors about his coach steering him out of state appear more valid. There are (6) 4-stars, but two of those are JUCOs - one and AL placement so you're really looking at only five. Travis Dickson is from the coast and has a brother that plays at LSU so he's a hard pull, even though his has a family connection to State. Carlton Martin from Madison Central has been rumored to be favoring OM a little. I think we're in the running for the other 3, but all 7 of the top players either play OL or DL. I think we're doing well with a lot of the skill position recruits in state - they're simply just not considered blue chip by the recruiting services. |

MSU needs OT in the worse way, and the staff has done nothing but wiff at them so far. We dont have a shot with Robinson, Rae is probably headed elsewhere, and
we couldn't close to deal on Hurst.
The same could be said about QBs. We lead early for Nance, but might Vandy swoops in, now we lose the main focus of our early recruiting to Bill Stewart and WV? The staff has been disappointing, but they have plenty of time to get things turned around. Land that JUCO DT from GCCC, that'd be a great start. |

Mullen will be fine, I expect him to do well in state, probably better than Nutt. The key will be who he can get out of state. Regardless of what MSU and Ole
Miss fans think, there is not enough talent in-state to rely upon alone. Some years it is just too thin at OL or DL. Last year there were few if any quality
OL, this year it looks like there may be 3-4.
I heard for about 8 months how Nutt was a horrible recruiter until signing day, and after he signed 64 players and had a rule implented because of it, I figured we wouldn't hear the Nutt can't recruit angle at least until Dec-Jan, but we have some fans who are already pissed we don't have more commits. |

wait-and-see from recruits concerning Mullen. As in, wait and see what they look like the first half of the season and so forth. I'm not thrilled about
recruiting right now, but not deflated about it, though I'll admit I thought Brunetti was ours to lose and it seems like we lost him.
