I'm not believing they just lost like that. I actually feel sorry for the pitcher. * | #1

about the last USM pitcher in the Clarion Ledger this week. He lost his dad to cancer a few years ago.
I support the two most frustrating teams in America: The New Orleans Saints and the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

It's his job to throw strikes | #5

and I bet he would tell you the same thing.
Yes, the umpire was crap today. But a lot of those pitches weren't close. "Because just being good kids who make good grades isn't good enough anymore."- John Cohen

Well | #8 | ||

the good news for him is that they have another game to play and he has a chance to do something there. Unfortunately that's the nature of the beast in
baseball. Someone is going to lose, and that means someone is going to do something or have something happen that is bad.
I can appreciate your symapathy for him though. "Because just being good kids who make good grades isn't good enough anymore."- John Cohen

Tough way to lose. Our bullpen has way overperformed to get to Omaha. The pressure just got the best of them tonight. Not a believer in moral victories. That
one really hurt.

He was not the only one | #12

You can't blame the last pitcher on that loss. There were three other bullpin guys before him who also could NOT throw a strike. He was just the last in a
long line of pitchers who were not ready to play that day.
Again, I feel for the last guy and for his family for the loss (father), but he was NOT to blame for that game. "Now he's got me on the war path and all I can do is hurt him," Polk said of Byrne in a phone interview with The Associated Press from Athens, Ga., where he is watching Georgia play North Carolina State in an NCAA super regional. "I'm going to do everything I can to make his life miserable." wow.... |

I also think the blame goes to the hitters in the 7th, I think | #13
|
Whatever inning where Southern had the bases loaded and nobody could get a hit. That also would have won the game without ever having to use as much of the
bullpin as they did. Leaving three guys on base in a game that close hurts. Hurts real bad!

that were way too close to be taking in that situation. That is where USM pissed away their opportunity to win the game.

even with Cargill on the mound, I have my 2 best guys warming up in the pen, even if they are my starters.
I cannot believe going to a guy who has only thrown 11 inn all year was the smartest move. You play to win the game. |

You have to get hits, but you have to throw the damn ball for a strike too.. That was just horrible...

we drove back after the game last night and i beat that dead horse until the effing rain started. terrible way to end an absolutely awesome day in omaha.
once I fully wake up i'll likely respond again about the atmosphere, post some pics, discuss the corndogs and ASU fans that were present (seriously those people are long lost family members), straight billed hats, skanky hot women, and the annoying bullshit that is "<---right field sux" and "left field sux--->". the pitching in the 9th was bad... | #19
|
but it could have been a different story if any of the batters in the 8th could have put the ball in play with ducks on the pond and 1 out. All they could
manage was a walk. A sac fly would have given them an insurance run, a base hit gives them 2 (probably). Then they would have had runs to give in the 9th.
