I drove through the 'Burg yesterday. On Hwy 98, I-59, and Hwy 49 I saw exactly one sign with a reference to Omaha.

there's a few, but you really have to search for them.
i've lived here for 3 years (i'm moving at the end of the month, THANK GOD!)... It's a weird place down here. It's almost as if West of I-59 is a totally different place with businesses that do not want anything to do with that university. |

And that is exactly what seperates them from | #2
|
the two "elite" universities in the state. Good friend of mine is from Oak Grove and says that the town and university are on completely different
terms in some cases. I mean, a town that could easily double the population of Starkville and not promote its university any better than that.
But, I guess thats my own opinion. Hattiesburg has always felt as if it wasn't a part of Mississippi to me for some reason. |

It cracks me up that Miss State fans are reduced to making fun of a supposed lack of CWS signs in Hattiesburg, while USM fans are gearing up for the Eagles big game tomorrow night in Omaha against the #1 seeded Longhorns. How the mighty have fallen.......pretty sad really.

It won't be for long.
Espeially when your best players would have gone to MSU if we had a coach that knew what the hell he was doing. "Because just being good kids who make good grades isn't good enough anymore."- John Cohen

USM has played very well lately.
However, you are about to get brought back down to reality. No shit, congrats on getting there. But let's be honest here... |

I wish our X-Head Coach had gone out with class. I hope Southern has a good run at the CWS being they are a Mississippi school.

that Polk scheduled his beloved baseball camp during the same week as the CWS that year, I would say that going that year was a bonus for us to. Unless you
were Wade Hedges of course.

We've been once in the past 11 years, same as USM has. | #10

We lost all bragging rights in the Polk II era and have to earn them back again before we can say anything at all to a USM or UM baseball fan. Let's worry
about getting our program out of the cellar before we slam a program that has had some relative success over the past decade or so.

Bingo- it`s been a damn struggle for us to even get to Hoover lately | #12
|
berating someone else`s program right about now is pretty shallow. NOTE: with the exception of poking fun at our Ole Miss "friends" about Omaha -but they just bring that one themselves and make it almost irresistable.

I saw quite a few in North Hattiesburg Friday. | #13
|
The Stuckey's, the Pepsi Bottling Company and probably half a dozen others. I can't speak for the rest of the town since I bypassed it on I-59.

You weren't looking very hard. I can name at least 30 places just on Hwy 98 alone. You obviously didn't go back toward the university on Hardy.
Congrats to USM. Good for them. How in the world do we get off making fun of USM while we're sitting at home? I've seen flags all over town.
I'd say they've responded nicely. I personally know of at least 20 people who made the trek to Omaha, and I just moved here.

I'd say H'burg has responded quite nicely. Grow up, folks...give 'em their props. They earned it. Nobody gave it to them. Just my opinion
but I'd suspect if they played SEC ball, this year's USM team would be one of the top 4 teams, if not higher. I'm damn sure that they wouldn't
be wondering whether or not they were going to Hoover or not. Hell, only reason some of you let it eat you so bad is that you're just jealous it's
them instead of us. Pure immaturity to say that "all of USM's good players would be playing for us if our old coach wasn't a lazy bastard at
recruiting". Over the past decade, they've outplayed us, out-coached us, and out-recruited us... and they're enjoying the fruits of that, now.

What does that mean "part of Mississippi"? | #17
|
Mobile and Gadsden are pretty different? Aren't they both parts of Alabama? When you're talking about two hundred year old arbitrarily drawn lines on a
map, you're gonna end up with geographic and human diversity.
I'd say Tunica and Laurel are pretty different. Natchez and Iuka couldn't be much more different. Aren't they all parts of Mississippi? Where do you live that you get to decide what "Mississippi" gets to be? People from State and people from Ole Miss are always said to be different, but they're both schools in Mississippi.
