This is great news! I hope we can get Davis, Shepard, and CC all to campus. However I hear that C. Powers is gone regardless of what round he is drafted in.

It's never good news when a signee is drafted in the top 10 rounds. | #7
|
The problem with Polk's signees was that very few of them were even drafted at all. If Cohen's recruiting class doesn't produce a handful of
mid-to-late round draftees then that won't be a real good sign either.

Fun Fact... | #8 | ||
|
according to Ole Miss' athletic website, only 1 player that saw significant time in the field or at DH for them this year was drafted out of high school.
Out of all the pitchers on the roster at the Super, only 2 pitchers were drafted out of high school. While Polk just ignored pitching, his bigger problem was his unwillingness to cut and use that money to go after someone else. That's where we really got behind. |

If you want to be an elite club............ | #9
|
you need two or three players drafted in the first ten rounds. All our really good teams had a few guys Polk had to sweat out waiting on the first day of class.

Is it a big deal.. | #12 | ||

that the number one pick this season wasnt drafted out of high school a all?
/just saying I do get what you are saying, but I feel a bunch of our signees are will be later rounds if they want to even take a flyer on them at all |

speaking of strasburg, have you seen his stats? | #13
|
in 2008, he went 8-3 with a 1.57 ERA, 133k's and only 16 walks in 97.1 innings. in 2009, he went 13-1 (and we all know who gave him the loss) with a
1.32 ERA, 195 k's and only 19 walks in 109 innings.

His walks are a bit misleading.... | #14
|
many of his pitches outside of the strike zone that he gets a "swingin" strike on. Easy to do that on college guys. Will get much harder as he
moves up to get disciplined guys that have seen a fastball before to chase those pitches ALL the time.

I am kind of worried that more of our incoming class is not getting drafted.
