How was that Howard's fault? | #2

Our back 4 right now are incredibly bad. He's had no shot at either goal. Epic fail from the US so far. The team I'm watching right now will
qualify for the World Cup, and flame out in group stage yet again.

I am just frustrated. I know it isn't all him. I just get so frustrated at this team. And I cannot believe how bad we are in the back.

we have some good players. It's time for a new coach. Not that Bradley is terrible, but I think we need a coach with international experience that can
take us to the next level. We're stuck as a good, but never great team right now, and we are horrible away from home against decent competition.

I am still miffed that we couldn't work it out with the former German coach. Also, I can't believe we still haven't found a scorer in the 20 years
I have been watching. Our strikers are glorified midfielders.

We forgot to show up.

These damn Costa Rican's are too fast and I guess our players will say its too hot down there for them.
This looks like Croom's defense on the soccer field. |

We are getting beat to every ball. Our first touch is complete shit.
Mark your $%*$@!# man and make tackles on top of the 18 before we give a guy a wide open shot. this team has all the signs of a 0-fer in the 2010 group stage of the WC. I thought when we went to Europe and beat Poland and Switzerland that maybe we
were learning how to win away from home. Scratch that. We look like shit on foreign soil. I bet we get obliterated in the Confed Cup.

I agree and don't think this US team has it in them. They are not even close to Germany 06. If he wouldnt have scored then the guy standing wide open on top of the 18 would have. We are playing like pussies and I cant watch it anymore.

You're right it's the keeper's fault...... | #16
|
Howard is the only player on the team that would start on any team in Europe. Here is what's wrong with this team....
1. Bocanegra- slow, he needs to borrow Croom's golfcart, absolutely useless (and he is the captain) 2. Onyewu- makes horrible decisions (see definition for Oaf). 3. Beasley- has no position on the field, being quick does not make you a good player, give up on him already. 4. Wynn- This guy should never play again for US, being decent in MLS is not good enough. 5. Mastroeni- makes terrible decisions, looks lost the whole game, then performs some senseless foul to make himself look usefull (refer to #4). 6. Donovan- Better hope that the US never hires a coach with a 17'ing original thought. He is totally pisspoor in games against oponents > Trinidad/Tobago. 7. Torez- looks like we are throwing shit against the wall at this point, this guy does not stick. 8. Altidore- lost. 9. Dempsey-has an upside, but gives up and pouts (I would too) 10. Bradley Jr.- same as Dempsey. We need a coach ASAP, we are stupid to wait any longer, now is a good time to find a coach with European leagues finishing. We must get a proven coach from Europe. We have the cash, the job is not that bad. We are seriously in danger of not qualifying, should Mexico get on track. I think the US soccer team is more frustrating than MSU. |

I DVR'd that game and just finished watching it. I hope my DVR doesn't prevent me from recording future US games.
Beasley as no business on the back line. Dempsey is nothing more than a solid club player. Donovan is a great MLS player. Altidore and Torres have the most potential and I'm not even sold on them yet. We'll get out act together, win the home games, get another point or two on the road and qualify. Mexico better get their shit together because they are the ones who are really in danger of missing out. Costa Rica is a solid team and Honduras isn't going to roll over for anybody. I can't for the life of me figure out why other teams seem to be able to string together multiple nice passes, going down the field in a beautiful way, while making it look easy. The US manages to string together multiple passes and gets down field, but it always seems like our first touches suck and we are constantly getting the lucky bounce where the ball stays at our feet. Is it too much to ask for us to play the beautiful game? Is THIS too much to ask for? I'll even take 8 passes, screw 24! |

You nailed one thing. The biggest problem with Team USA is | #19
|
ball control. The only player on the team with a decent first touch is Dempsey. This is the main reason why our gameplay looks so slow. Bottom line. The
quicker you get it down and under control, the quicker you can release and move. Don't even get me started on Beasley. We always have, and still do, look
like a bunch of brutes out there that plan on muscling their way to victory. We do not play the beautiful game and we never have. I don't know if the
Florida Academies are the root of this problem or U-17/National Team coaching - but it is definitely a flaw in the instruction somewhere down the line.
Given our population and the explosion of youth soccer over the last 20 years, there is no excuse for us to not be a World Cup threat every time around. One definite problem is our adjustment to the speed of the game on the international level. MLS really is the SWAC compared to the Premiership, La Liga, etc. Until we have a good number of our guys starting on European clubs, we will always be exposed on the international level.
