Bulldog Club membership | #41 | ||
|
One reason I encourage fans to join the BC as soon as possible is because some of the considerations for Bulldog Club ranking is consecutive years of giving
and lifetime total.
At the same time, one should think carefully about completely dropping out of the BC in protest for the same reasons above; you are hurting yourself as much
as you are hurting MSU athletics; surely there are other ways to protest. Not purchasing season tickets in football isn't suggested right now either if you
have any priority because you will lose your seats and someone else will get them under the current guidelines.

on the sole basis of bulldog club membership is a "real asshole". All of you self-righteous bastards can kiss my ass.
You sound like the medieval Catholic church: "You can buy your way into MSU fan heaven for the easy low price of $8.33/month. Join now, and let your soul be released from poser-fan hell!" Obviously, my point is there are many other things you can do to support MSU athletics. The BC is a great channel, but not the only one. |

This is my second year as a member and Ithink it is a good idea to join if you can. I joined after Coach Cohen was hired and seeing our facilities as compared
to some of the others in the conference. I want to do what I can to help out, even if it is only helping buy a jersey or helment for the team--every little bit
helps. Also if you have $50 hanging around, you can help the baseball team by joining the dugout club. Even if you can't join either, buy a shirt or a
ticket and support the dawgs.

I was a member until I saw how absolutely dumb we were in the later years of Bellard. I rejoined when Sherrill came on board and also thought we might have
turned the corner but then I realized what a lazy dumb ass AD we had. Fortunately I kept giving due to the basketball program and it has paid off with the
points in dogtag. I can honestly now say there is real hope in athletics and the future looks bright. I understand why students have a hard time joining but
100 bucks a year should be affordable to anybody. We bitch a lot but if we aren't a stockholder( and that is what I think about being a BC member) then I
have a hard time thinking someone really wants us to succeed. Clemson started their IPTAY club at 30.00 a year and immediately had 35,000 donors. Their are no
season tickets available now either unless folks put up or shut up. I would love MSU to get to that point and then the folks who stepped up to the plate will
be glad they did. We ought to have 15,000 BC members and should strive for 30,000. Byrne will give us results if we do our part.

HD6, and others... | #46 | ||

First for HD6: Thank you for the kind offer, however I actually like Stansbury and wouldn't want people to confuse me with the current holder of the name.
For others (e.g., Patdog, etc), I have no problems with a conversation starting along the lines of "hey, the BC is great and has these benefits...", but I have a problem with the "real fan" comment. A couple of things I would like to point out: First, I am a current member, but that does not mean prior to 3 months ago I was not a "real fan." Understandably, paying dues and what not is NOT the only way to support a team. Since becoming an Alumni, I have yearly contributed to MSU's dept of Psychology and ROTC (the two associations I spent the most time in.) MSU is not an athletic program where people attend school. It is a school that has an athletic department. To say that you must contribute even a penny towards an athletic club is your ticket to fan-dom is silly! You can be a huge, die-hard fan of the entire university! Hell, when I pursued a law degree and PhD in Clinical Psychology, I left the state because I refuse to attend "that school in the north." In the Army, I occasionally come across Soldiers who say things like "well, if they really were patriotic, they would enlist too." I vehemently disagree with that statement also. And the you didn't vote so don't bitch analogy is flawed too. I did not contribute to the Breast Cancer Society so I guess I can be called an advocate FOR the disease since I am not financially contributing to the fight. Judging someone's beliefs and values based on how much money/time they contribute is a very slipperly slope and I urge everyone to steer clear of that. Does the fan that contributes 8.34/mo more of a fan than 8.33/mo? Long and short of it, the "real fan" comment was silly and uncalled for. I bleed Maroon and White and have made emotional sacrifices many on this board never will (e.g., do you have any idea how hard it is to be an MSU fan while being in command of a 99% Arkansas unit!!! Those a-holes are crazy!!) Last question: Of the hundreds of student-athletes at MSU, how many of their parents are BC members? Guess those who are not cannot be considered fans. TD --------- PS-I'm not the short one.
