Why do Ole Miss fans believe State fans are jealous of them? |

there isn't that much difference between the programs on a national scale in football. And I think overall, we dominate in basketball and baseball. So
therefore, I don't envy their athletic program. I would love to have more SEC football championships regardless of the year.
I support the two most frustrating teams in America: The New Orleans Saints and the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

MSU - Every other thread on State message boards involves Ole Miss. Comparisons or whatever. Lots of obsessed people. Jealous? maybe. Ole Miss - Rebels
subconsciously realize we are the entity that keeps them from dominating the state and more Mississippians identify with MSU. They respond with denial. They
resent this deeply and then make claims that LSU is their real rival and they denigrate anything State-related. They hate us but try to deny us the respect of
recognition as their arch-rival. Denial, yes. Delusion, yes. Jealousy? maybe.

Sometimes you actually have to think before posting one of the cliche sayings. Or better yet learn to have a conversation with an ole miss fan like a normal
person rather than an eggbowl.com poster.

It was a pretty integral part of what I was saying.
Or maybe you thouht I was saying something other than, "We have one Grantland-Rice Trophy, which was the big $%#!%@+ thing given out to the National Champions that year just like the crystal ball is given out to the National Champions these days." |

I don't know a single State fan that is or has been jealous of Ole Miss. Now Bama on the other hand, yes, but so are a lot of other programs.
The ONLY thing that could even be close would be envy of last years football talent. Nothing else EVER mentioned. |

The MSU fans that are jealous of Ole Miss fans are primarily due to football..a sport they have been dominated in. And since football is by far more popular
that even the combination of all the other sports combined, SEC baseball tourney championships do little to salve the wound at only winning 21 of the last 80
some odd games against your main Rival.
On top of the head to head dominance, you have to consider the history...not just the glory days of Ole Miss, with the National Titles, SEC championships, Teams of the Decade, etc, but just look at the last 20 years or so... Ole Miss has more bowl wins since 1989 as MSU has had, EVER. Ole Miss has as many NYD bowl appearances since 1989 as MSU has had, EVER. Ole Miss has finished the season nationally ranked since 1989 as many times as MSU has, EVER. Ole Miss has more 9+ win seasons since 89 as MSU has had since before WW2. Ole Miss has more 7+ win seasons since 89 as MSU has had since the Kennedy Administration. etc... And the coup de grace.. Just since 2003, Ole Miss has more major bowl victories than MSU has had, EVER.

We get jealous because we either want to be:
-Tooling around the square in Oxford in our Daddy's Porsche, getting hammered at Proud Larry's, wearing JCrew, khaki pants, penny loafers without socks, and being a phoney conformist, or..... -Live in a flop house, grow weed in the back yard, wear torn jeans, listen to Indie Rock, and be a phoney Non-conformist. |

no that can't be it since the series is 9-9 since 1988. Also, the record you brag of against us is mainly due to a winless run by us from 1944-1960. I
doubt many of us actually care about the 40s and 50s these days. Without that pathetic stretch by us, the all time series is virtually even. Good try though.
I'll give you this though, our bowl history does suck ass. |

Show me where there is anything of note for either team regarding football on that list, and I'll tell you that it's a comparison of the Big 3 sports.
You might as well throw rowing, gymnastics, hockey, and curling into the list of sports as well, since that list includes the list of all the titles we've
both won in those sports too.
While you're at it, do a comparison of the number of national titles won in basketball and football for Duke and North Carolina. In the end, you'd just be counting basketball titles. |

I'm envious of Ole Miss' perception as the "hipper" school in the state... | #37 | ||

but as far as quality of education, social experiences, campus life and athletics, there's not a whits worth of difference. And frankly the "Old South
charm" of Oxford is negated by the douche bag factor of the student/alumni population.

"no that can't be it since the series is 9-9 since 1988."
The series record since 1988 is 12-9 Ole Miss. "Also, the record you brag of against us is mainly due to a winless run by us from 1944-1960. I doubt many of us actually care about the 40s and 50s these days. Without that pathetic stretch by us, the all time series is virtually even. Good try though." No, MSU has won only 22 games against Ole Miss since 1926. The reason the series record is as close as it is primarily rests with MSU's win streak from 1910 to 1925. I certainly doubt anyone cares about the pre-leather helmet days. The Clooney movie bombed, after all. Since 1926 the series record is 55-22-5 Ole Miss. |
