Interesting, did you know there is a "Fire Dan Mullen" facebook page by UF fans? |
Lead | ||
|
while he was at UF....I couldnt believe the shit they were writing on that page....obviously this was while he was at UF, but they were claiming that "he
out thinks himself 95% of the time" "he was the sole reason we lost to Ole Miss", and "has only 3 plays"...."Tebow was
heldback".......they even claimed him to be the worst OC in the SEC.....guess they didnt know McCorvey.....

I can only dream of being in those fans shoes... | #1
|
being a perennial powerhouse, 2 national championships and wanting to fire the coach. That would be an awesome feeling.

Their three plays were better than our three plays | #2

Play action sack. Shank a field goal/punt. |

I ran into a UF fan and told him thanks for Mullen | #3
|
and he pretty much stated "you can have him. Good luck, he doesn't know how to call a play"
Keeping it civil since I didn't know him, I told him anything was better than that sack of shit Croom though, and he agreed. I also told him "you're welcome for Urban since we got Zook fired for you" and he was appreciative of that. |

That darn Mullen missed the block on the extra point... | #4
|
and the offense only scored 30 points that day. What a loser!!
The only play call that I can remember in that game that would be a offensive coaches mistake was the 4th down, Tebow up the middle with 14 Rebels in the box. Tebow should have called timeout or audibled- of course he usually makes it anyway. And another thing- I know I'm more defensive minded, but if you score 30 points in a football game and lose, it aint the offense that lost- its the defense.

Those 3 plays must have been pretty damn good... | #5
|
And it was clearly Mullen's fault that they scored 30pts and loss... They avg. 44.8 ppg in Sec play. Mullen was clearly the problem and held them back
from averaging 50 ppg... That would be like us losing 3-2 to Auburn and wanting to fire Harbison for letting Auburn score 3.

we'll get to see what kind of playcaller.......... | #6
|
he is in the fall. It's pretty easy when you have Tebow and the supporting cast. With Lee and Relf, it'll be a little different. |

In the runup to the OM game last year I was browsing the UF | #9
|
message boards. A lot of the fans were lamenting their offense in the first few games, and there was even an article linked from a Florida paper where Meyer
was talking about their slow start to the season offensively. After the OM game a few fans were really bitching about Mullen, and Shane Matthews made his now
famous critique of the poor offensive game planning. Then Florida went on to paste everyone by 50 and you never heard a thing about it again. Mullen's a
good coach, but UF fans have become so spoiled that they look for things to bitch about. He'll energize your offense and I think you'll be in a bowl
next year if not this year.
"Frankly, I've said some things I probably shouldn't have said. . . . I'll be the first to admit I don't lose well. I never have." some random dick. |

I agree on UF fans. They were and are a little bit spoiled. UF's offense was "struggling" a little bit early in the year when they were griping
about Mullen. They ONLY scored 26 on Miami and ONLY scored 30 on UT and ONLY scored 30 on us. In contrast to the numbers they put up later in the year, you
could call that a slow start I guess.
I think part of the problem was that early in the year they relied too much on Harvin to be Tebow's primary offensive option. They weren't giving the ball to the RBs, and they weren't doing a lot to get Demps and Raney involved. I think Dexter running all over them helped push them into getting their waterbugs a few more touches, and that helped. Plus, I think they started spreading the ball around more in general, which opened things up. They had the weapons. I just think they were too focused early in the year on trying to run the offense through Tebow/Harvin ignoring the other options. |

Its amazing the sports world we live in... | #12

if you aren't beating people 56-0 and winning nat'l titles, you are ripe for criticism.
Florida fans dogging the offensive coordinator of the country's most potent offense People claiming Mark Richt is an underacheiver The occasional rally of nafoomers wondering if Bianco should be gone. State fans ready to run off Rick Stansbury if he doesn't make the Sweet 16 and so on it goes. |

position Tebow as an nfl drop back qb in response to the criticisms of him rather than running their normal offense.

that's what the average joe complains about---play calling. It reminds me of the slapnuts that me and VHdawg have to sit behind at these games.
Developing systems, developing talent and reconciling the talent and the system is 95% of offense (completely made up stat).

And they appear to be doing the same thing again this year. | #15
|
I predict Florida will be slow starting offensively this year as they adjust to trying to force Tebow into more of a pro-style offense with more drop backs.
Then at some point Meyer will have to step in and change things back to make sure they win.
Must be nice to be so good that you can just toy with your offense even though it's already working great. |

With out telling you what I do for a living or where I work I can say that I come into contact with many people from Florida. I have yet to come across any UF
fans who have had something bad to say about our coach. Many of them have even said that they will now follow Miss State football because of him. You will
always have that eliment of folks who will say the rest room stinks no matter how much cleaning you do. Some people will always find something to cry about.
Thats just human nature.

I wonder what they are going to say if Miss State offense goes from113 in the nations to being top 60? It is very possible! |

I don't know why Tebow gets knocked for his play style. | #19
|
Ignore the fact that he is mobile, big and strong, and you have a guy who is 4th in the NCAA in passing efficiency.

I think the issues with Tebow are with his ability to throw the deep ball and his arm strength to be able to throw the deep out route. Roethlisberger had both
of those in his arsenal. Tebow's arm strength isn't the best.
Graham Harrell completed a high percentage of his passes as well with a good efficiency. However, he had the same issue. The inability to throw certain routes will get you knocked by NFL folks. Tebow is not as bad off as Harrell, though they both play/played in offenses that are able to mask those deficincies. |
