clean program = early transfer? |
Lead | ||
|
Do you think if stans DOES run a clean program, does this carry any weight to players transfering or leaving for the draft early? Players may hear from friends
at other school that they receive X amount or X perks and here they receive X-shit. Possibly guys are wanting these perks and decided since stans only provides
playing time and nothing else (look at elgin Bailey's ride if you need proof) that they transfer out? Just a ponder.

I think Stansbury just knows the limits better than most coaches. As long as the rules don't prohibit certain things he definitely should take advantage
of it. It is a miracle that with all the smoke blown over the years that the NCAA has not really found anything on us. Innocent until proven guilty as they
say.

To the original post, very sunshiny assumptions there. Also, laughable. I wouldn't say Stans is dirty. However, I wouldn't say he's necessarily any
cleaner than anyone else out there. It's college basketball. It's all dirty, so in a way, that makes none of it dirty by comparison.
Stans definitely steps over the line, as most coaches do. However, I don't think he steps TOO far over the line, which is when you risk getting in trouble. The perks at MSU are probably not much different from the perks at most major college basketball programs. |

Whoa... | #4 | ||

What proof do you have that Stansbury "definitely steps over the line"? If the rules are changed then Stansbury will change with them but as long as
there is nothing prohibiting all this AAU stuff then it is fair game.

Hanmudog wrote: That's my point. The fact that he's able to recruit well and win games is proof that he steps over the line just like everyone else. My point was that he obviously doesn't go too far over the line to where he'd get in trouble. The AAU stuff that goes on is definitely illegal. It's just done in a way that the NCAA can't really do anything about it. I compare it to speeding. If the speed limit is 55, 90% of the drivers are going 60 or maybe more. It's illegal, but it isn't something that's punished. It's the guys that go 80 that get ticketed. Tim Floyd = 80 mph. Stansbury, Kennedy, Gottfried (before he was fired) = 60-65 mph.

Hanmudog wrote: I have friends that have been asked to contribute for certain players. But one thing I will say- Stansbury isnt dumb enough to pull a "Floyd" and actually hand money to a recruit/player...but make no mistake- it does happen here too...but we arent doing anything any other school isnt doing...
Stansbury is 17-44 against the top 25, and 51-82 overall against the top 50...I rest my case (numbers compliments of ScoobaDawg)

I don't doubt it goes on at all but I don't think any other fanbase in the world has fans that would get on the internet and say that our own coach
cheats. I damn sure would not propagate that image of our coach and our team. It is one thing when a disgruntled Bama fan says it but jeez we have our own
fans saying it.

Big difference. | #14 | ||

There is a difference in saying that Stansbury stretches the rules and saying "Hey I have a friend that helps Stansbury pay off players". Has
nothing to do with positivity or negativity. And yes people do read this board. Brad Locke and Kyle Veazy have both alluded to reading message board chatter.
How would you like shit like Coach just said printed in the Daily Journal? How would you like for someone to track down a lead?
All I am saying is that being a little vague is smarter than just putting specifics out there. Now if it is Kennedy or Pelphrey then be as specific as you can. |
