Posts: 1556 05/07/09 09:34 PM	Tags : None I need to upgrade my phone and I'm considering a Blackberry and staying with CSouth (which I've enjoyed for 10 years) or going with AT&T for the iPhone that does more tricks. But this AT&T coverage map from their website worries the hell out of me: Click twice over MS to zoom. AT&T Coverage map Does anyone have trouble with iPhones dropping calls in MS? And I'm talking about once you're off the beaten path. Also, AT&T doesn't even have a 3G network in Tupelo. How can that be? I hate to leave Cellular South because their coverage is seamless. The nice thing about the iPhone (among several) is that it's WiFi and GPS capable.. but I don't like being forced to use iTunes to sync with my desktop. Couple that with crappy service in MS and it could be a deal breaker.

Probably one of the best things I've ever done. Only thing now, Verizon bought out Alltel, so I don't know how it's going to effect me.

Posts: 896 05/07/09 10:07 PM	they are about the same in coverage. traveling over the USA i give the edge to Verizon. And you can't beat the Verizon wireless internet for a laptop. Pretty cool to be driving along and have high speed internet in your car. only $40 a month. And i might add AT&T sucks for coverage compared to those 2.

I think it sucks in Mississippi, so am thinking of switching to CellularSouth. People here tell me they have no problems with coverage. I used to have Verizon, but there was no wireless in Starkville with Verizon when I moved here.

I have both ATT and SouthernLinc....I can tell you that there are very few rural places that ATT works on the coast.....i live in birmingham so it is the ideal phone plus work pays for it......Im kicking the ATT Tilt it is a pretty badass phone.....and I chose it over Bold due to it also being 3G but i also get Office Mobile *If you think education is expensive, try ignorance!*

I was constantly out of area. I've had CS for probably 7 or 8 yrs and could count on one hand how many times my phone has said "searching for signal". I have to travel to some pretty rural areas with work, and most of the time have to use my personal phone due to no service on my work phone. If you're not a liberal as a child, you have no heart. Posts: 146 05/08/09 08:08 AM	After 15 years with cingular/ATT, I had two months left on a contract when my phone crapped out. They would not let me resign a contract and get a new free phone. They insisted that my only option was to purchase a new phone for full price if I wanted to talk for the last two months. Customer Service out of New Dehli has no help at all. I dropped ATT house phone and cellular after that. They will never get a penny out of me again. I went to CS and bought a new phone with no contract just so I wouldn't be stuck again, but I must say that the service is much better and I have much better coverage with CS.. I should have made the switch sooner. Porkchop say, "When I say I have a woody now, does that mean I have a turd in my pants?"

I have sprint and my wife t-mobile, they both work great.. Sprint has the palm pre coming out this summer, it is better than the i-phone. apple and verizon are working on a deal to sell the i-phone. Posts: 251 05/08/09 08:17 AM	This is pretty common knowledge, but CS is on TDMA (I may have these backwards) and ATT and all the rest of the big carriers are on CDMA.....what this mean? I have no idea, but CS has better coverage than any provider in MS.....my wife has ATT and iPhone and she doesnt even attempt to try and use it in our house.....I used ATT a while back and it was the best switch I ever made....plus, in my job, I talk roughly 4000+ minutes a month, and my cell bill never tops $110....my wife's is usually $150, and she can't even use it in the house.....the only negative to CS is that they don't get the cool new phones....so while everyone is using new cool phones, you will at least have service... stay with CS.....easy decision sixpackmafia - The artist formerly known as Igotbannedongenespage

Posts: 1095 05/08/09 09:59 AM	TDMA is old. AT&T is now on HSDPA, not to get technical or anything. But yeah, unless you are in a large metro (New York/L.A.,Chicago, not Atlanta, Memphis), CDMA is better.

I rarely have to call because i get excellent service but the last two times i had to call i spoke with someone in the New England area and then someone in TX. Its still an easy decision of who to go with. If you want a toy w/ bad reception in MS go with ATT, or you can upgrade to the berry curve that CS sells and have outstanding coverage and be happy.
