Mutt and others, need dinner rec for meridian tonight. Prefer a local place in the heart of downtown. Good southern food if possible.

Have to admit I've gotten a handful of tips from those threads that have worked out well. |

as for the food, the Chowhound/South

I like "Bridget's" myself. Great food, great people, and a great price. I highly recommend it to anyone going through Meridian. It's off Exit
153 on 22nd Ave. Heights (By the new El Norte).
I never miss a chance to stop by and chat with the owners when I'm travelling through. You won't find a more genuine pair than those two... |

at the Rustler. Too many creatures(roach) running around that place now. It used to be a great place, but now it's known for bugs.

The Chilli House just moved downtown and I would recommend it for some really good food. Also, try the Hungry Heffer.

but I would agree with Hoople, Weidman's is the choice. Is DT Grinder's still open?

The Red Beans & Rice reminded me of Fat Tuesday's in Jackson. The place is SMALL, though.
