Not to split hairs but that's not quite a numerical assignment.

Losing Jerry is big but our defensive line will still be one of the best lines in the nation, so that's not a devastating loss. Losing Oher is a big loss.
Hopefully someone will step up at left tackle. We have the potential but somebody has to step up. As I said, when Powe is playing as well as he is right now
and is second string on d-line, I think we'll be just fine.

Hope I have to contribute to the SPS chest this fall, however, I feel this is Mississippi's year.
If Mississippi wins, I'd rather the money go to SPS.

If they don't play in the SECCG.... | #25

their season will be a disappointment. They SHOULD be favored to win the West. 10-2 (6-2) will be their most likely record. They will just need the right
tiebreakers. With some luck they could go undefeated in the regular season. Bama went 12-0 in 2008 and UM has a better QB. He's really the key and everyone
knows it.

You don't really need a left tackle in Nutt's offense.** | #28

I seem to recall watching Snead drop back to pass a lot last year | #29
|
You need a left tackle for that every time. That offensive line will be a problem. You were really good there last year with zero depth...none. Then you
lost half the line. Now, at least 2 starters will have seen little to no playing time and then what if somebody gets hurt?
That being said, I think UM finds a way to be top 15. Nutt has a way of figuring out how to move the ball as I'm sure you were implying. I just don't see this team nearly maximizing it's potential without having Snead drop back and throw a lot and a highly inexperience o-line is not conducive to that in any way. It's also a way to get Snead hurt. Slam me later if I'm wrong but I bet Nutt runs the ball more this year, especially in big games, to protect Snead from getting killed by the inexperienced line. |

OM should be optimistic... | #31
|
they looked really good at the end of the year. A favorable schedule and a good game day coach. Having said that, how many times have we seen preseason
optimism go down the toilet once the season starts? But if I were them, I would be optimistic too.

Ole Miss is not even a top-5 SEC team | #32
|
SEC Top 5
Florida LSU Alabama Georgia South Carolina Best of the rest: Auburn, Tennessee, Vandy, and OM You could argue that OM is better than USC, but USC beat OM in Oxford. Further, you can expect Auburn and Tennessee to be much better. |

But as P.T. Barnum said, a dumb shit is born every minute.
Substantively, I agree with you. The development of the O-line will determine how well OM does this year. "Frankly, I've said some things I probably shouldn't have said. . . . I'll be the first to admit I don't lose well. I never have." some random dick. |

Since I never change it or use one anyway.
Just for clarification so there's no "Peaching" later, if you get what I mean, we're saying Ole Miss will win the west and go to Atlanta like we did in 1998, not win the west like Ole Miss did in 2003 and LSU goes to Atlanta, right? |

I'd put the rebels as the preseason favorite to win the West.... | #37

but that is preseason with no injuries, etc. So I guess I disagree with you.

saddawg wrote: Yea, and if Tebow goes down, Florida will lose at least 3 games. Colt McCoy goes down, Texas is probably up shit creek as well. I don't think you can name too many teams in the country that have 2 really good AND game tested QBs. Oregon in 2006 was on track for the BCS title game with Dennis Dixon likely on track to take the Heisman from Tebow. He tore his ACL, and I believe they only won one more game the rest of the year, finishing 8-4. |

Take what OP4 said and apply it as my first point. We beat UF at their house, and whipped LSU at their house.
How do AU and UT get better? They downgraded in coaching and stayed stagnant on recruiting. Its official, SMU fans are dumbasses. |
