Brett the Jet to the Pro Bowl....Good call Green Bay |
Lead | ||

Look who is laughing now. You turn your back on a future hall of famer who is the top 5 QB's of all time for a mediocre, non athletic loser like Aaron
Rodgers. Way to go.....
Have fun watching Brett in the playoffs. |

Its all Rodgers fault | #1

Rodgers: 91.8 passer rating 3470 yards 21 tds/12ints
Favre: 86.5 passer rating 3052 yards 21 tds/17 ints Green Bay's defense is the problem How would I describe myself? Three words: hardworking, alphamale, jackhammer...merciless...insatiable.--Dwight Schrute |

But how many times can you retire and un-retire in a career? Farve did this to himself. He is no doubt a Hall of Fame quarterback, but you can not leave your
team, then a month before the season decide you want to come back. Farve retired, Green Bay moved on, I think they made the right call.

Favre has played ok this year, certainly no better than Aaron Rodgers.. the Jets' defense and running game has saved their asses lately

While I agree that Brett did this to himself you can not ignore the records. Last year the Jets went 4-12 without Brett, and the Packers were 13-3 with Brett.
Passer ratings, td's, defenses, int's and all the other stats you still can't ignore the records.
The Pack probably made the right call for the long term, but for this season the Jets have gotten the better end of that deal. Now you can also look at what success Miami has had this year and argue that they got the best end of the deal. From 1-15 to 9-5 this year with Pennington. |

or you could say the Jets went 4-12 without Kris Jenkins and the other $140 million they spent | #5

this offseason. They spent $140 million to bring in more talent, mostly on the defensive side of the ball. Sure, Brett has helped, but the defense has helped
more.

Explain to me how they turned their back on Brett | #6
|
He retired. If I retire from my job and then come back a few months later once the position has already been filled I shouldn't expect to have my job
handed back to me. Furthermore, my employers aren't turning their backs on me.

Ok, first you never have and never will call pro football your job... | #8
|
so I could give a flying 17 how you retiring would be handled by your employer. The NFL is not some mid level, no responsibility hack of a job like the one you probably have. If you are good and can bring a team the type of revenue in that Brett Favre does you keep that player around no matter what. Especially when that player is an all pro. Second, They basically told him he wasn't good enough to play for them and he could be the back up. He is in the pro bowl and the playoffs. Pretty good for a washed up back up. With Brett you get a type of leadership and swagger that few players if any can replicate. Aaron Rodgers? He can put up whatever kind of stats he wants, all
that matters in the NFL is wins. As of right now Rodgers is sucking hind tit in that department.

One thing you're not considering is salary cap issues. | #9
|
Who would the Packers have to let go, in addition to Rogers, to clear up cap room for Favre? I honestly have no idea, but everyone seems to be looking at this as a Favre vs. Rogers issue, when in reality it's probably a Favre vs. Rogers + ?? issue. And whoever falls in the ?? in that equation could change the answer one way or the other. |

NFL teams find a way to make room for players every year... | #10
|
for players a lot less talented than Favre. They would have found a way.
It is a Favre vs. RoDgers debate becasue they picked RoDgers over Favre. Plain and simple, black and white. RoDgers doesn't bring the intangibles that Favre does to a team. |

You're jumping the gun a little bit on that playoff talk. The Jets still have two very losable games left.
For the sixth straight year, MSU will finish in the bottom 20 in the country in total offense. There are all kinds of reasons for
that, but it's hard to excuse it by pointing to the "state of the program" when Croom arrived, especially considering how well the defense has
played over that same span of time--Brad Locke, November 25, 2008

I wouldn't call the next two games VERY LOSABLE. | #12

Seattle is 3-11 and have lost 6 of their last 7 games. I don't see them beating the JETS. The Dolphins will be a little harder to beat, but advantage goes
to the Jets.

In 3 years Farve will be kicking back in Hattiesburg, fishing, hunting, etc. | #13
|
Aaron Rodgers will be a starting QB in the NFL. That's one big reason to pick Rodgers over Farve right there. If you haven't noticed, getting a QB able
to put up even the stats of Rodgers this season isn't exactly easy. They picked him up to be the heir to Farve, so when Farve retired they moved ahead with
that plan. To then let Farve come back in and take the starting job back and make Rodgers wait around even further would have been completely stupid.
I like Farve, but let's put the leadership crap to bed. Since losing Super Bowl XXXII to the Broncos the Packers have won a grand total of 3 playoff games. 2 of those wins were in the Wild Card game, meaning they only advanced to the NFC title game 1 time in the last 10 seasons Farve was QB there. They missed the playoffs altogether 4 times. Dude is a hall of famer, but let's not go overboard here. I contend the only reason he is going to the Pro Bowl this year is because he is Brett Farve. |

If you don't win games the stats don't matter.... | #14
Stormrider81 wrote: "To then let Farve come back in and take the starting job back and make Rodgers wait around even further would have been completely stupid." That's where you lost me and anyone else that knows anything about football. The Jets went 4-12 last year and are on the way to being 11-5 this year and win a division that everyone said they had no shot at before the season. And don't give me the Tom Brady bull shit, that's football. Shit happens. the fact remains that the Jets came out smelling like roses and the Pack will slide back into mediocrity and obscurity behind an average QB who can't win football games. It's not like Favre has the most TD's, wins, MVP's or completions ever. He also has something Rodgers will NEVER have.....a Super Bowl ring. Keep dreaming Stormrider, you are good at that. |

RoDgers wouldn't have waited around. | #15
|
I believe he was a free agent at the end of this season. If the Packers had taken Favre back, RoDgers would have gone somewhere else.
For all the talk about the Packers sucking since Favre left, the reason they've sucked has been their defense, not their offense. The offense is putting up virtually the same points it did last year. The defense is giving up an additional TD per game though. |

When u are one of the best of all time, u deserve the right to change your mind if u want. I've been a Packer fan since 1962, and this Favre thing really SUCKS. Also even though Rogers has better stats, he fails to come through when the game is on the line. Look at last week, has the ball with just under 2 minutes left. He didn't get the job done and Green Bay loses by 4. Favre can bring u back, Rogers hasn't shown that yet. Favre is the man, and Green Bay screwed up big time. J-E-T-S Jets, Jets, Jets.
