The book on Crosswhite tonight.... |
Lead | ||
|
is a very short one. One inning pitched, faced 16 batters, 11 hits, 9 runs and all of them earned. I don't even have the words to describe. Wow, just
wow.

How in the hell do you go from being decent last year to sucking so bad this year? Crosswhite that is.

How many coaches do you know that would allow that to happen? | #2

That's what's so sad. Why do you keep.... | #3

running the guy out to the mound every week to suffer this fate?

I mentioned this today- I don't think he's healthy yet. This doesn't hurt my arguement. I don't think he has gone more than 4 innings since
coming back from the DL.

I think another question | #5

In an attempt to answer my own question, someone brought up to me the other day that maybe people had got enough tape on him. Because towards the end of last
year he began to struggle. Maybe it's just a case of people figuring out his stuff. Makes sense because he came into the rotation as a starter after being
in the bullpen.

I agree with you Todd. I think that's the only explanation as to why he's taken such a huge step back this year after improving throughout his first
two years.
Props to DerHntr for the fark. |

jim had a nice quote. something along the lines of "when you have a 9.33 era on the year, it's hard to hurt it much, but this isn't going to
help."

theory on his regression | #9
|
Let me preface my theory--I didn't see him pitch last year and I haven't seen him this year. But I have watched a lot of pitchers over the years run in
to this. Never seen one hung out to dry week after week though. I am guessing he's got what I've always heard called "dead arm" or
"tired arm." What happens is the shoulder ligaments don't tear, but stretch, like an old rubber band. There's no real pain, but the strength
just isn't there anymore, and its hard to detect. First time I heard of this (trying to access through the cobwebs now) was Mike Scott back in the late
80's. It used to be talked about a lot, but I haven't heard it mentioned much in recent years. At any rate, his decline late last year and flop this
year meet the symptoms. Or maybe its something else completely.

In all fairness, I should have reported...... | #10

the stat as 1 PLUS inning pitched, not 1 inning. Not that that helps the old double digit ERA in any way. But still.

they could very well have misdiagnosed his injury and it was really dead arm.
At any rate, he shouldn't be out there, and he probably should be examined by a doctor. |

Whoever the new coach is they need to hire a new trainer/strength coach somebody. There comes a point when all these injures are beyond being just freak
things.

quit giving out these little one line pearls of "wisdom". Say whatever the hell it is you want to say. Nobody thinks you're clever, we just
think you're annoying. It is so goddamn obvious you have something on your mind, so do it. Otherwise, quit chiming in with this little tidbits. They are
useless.
