So a female had someone call 911 to report the cops were beating Cedric Benson |

says her and her fiancee have pics, and support his story. She says she's been on his boat six times, and all six they have been pulled over for
"safety checks".

just decided to beat the crap out of someone with dozens looking on for no reason. Now, if they happened to be bears fans, that's another story.

When you consider how long boating season is, they have stopped Benson 6 times in a year. If they stop every boat 6 times per summer... damn. I guess MS just
falls way behind there to cause we never get stopped, or even a second look. Although, I can see where having 15 passengers might increase your odds of
getting checked.
Not saying I believe one side or the other completely. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. Easy to see cops over-reacting at the smell of alcohol and easy to see a pro athlete getting a little bit of an attitude.

Here are the stories from the Statesman. | #11

I have a lot of friends who boat every weekend out there who have never been checked. That being said, they usually don't have 15 people on their boat and act like fools, which he may or may not have been. I would think if he was really checked that many times in a year there may be a reason why other than he is a rich, NFL star. Now...as for police and law enforcement around this area, I have seen first hand how they treat folks they think are intoxicated and operating any kind of motorized vehicle or boat. They don't mess around if they think you are lit. I came up on a wreck on 620 (which runs along side of Lake Travis) this past fall. The lady who was driving one of the vehicles was looked at by the paramedics and refused to go to the hospital to be checked. Once she refused, she was promptly given a field sobriety test in bare feet, then handcuffed and taken away. The cops around here don't play when it comes to drinking and driving anything.
We are discreet sheep; we wait to see how the drove is going, and then go with the drove. We have two opinions: one private, which we are afraid to
express; and another one--the one we use--which we force ourselves to wear...until habit makes us comfortable in it, and the custom of defending it presently
makes us love it, adore it, and forget how pitifully we came by it. Look at it in politics.

Optimus Prime 4 wrote: Shit that's nothing new. I got pulled over when I was younger on Bay Springs lake in Dads boat all the time for the same shit. they would go as far as telling me the fire extinguisher wasnt the correct one for the boat. Guess Crownline screwed up on that one. We got tired of their crap on their boring lake and started heading straight up the waterway to Pickwick. Only good thing about Bay Springs lake is that the water is fairly calm for skiing unless it's on a holiday or something. |

Yep, it all depends.... | #16

if they see a bunch of folks on a boat, especially young ones, they will pull you over just about every time at orange beach. Always to check and make sure
you have enough "life vests" for each passenger. You draw attention to yourself with more people and being young. Is is profiling, sure, and i have
no problem with it in these cases even if it sucks ass....as for him being black or that maybe being the reason he got pulled over...i couldnt tell you because
you RARELY see any black folks in a boat and if you do it is 2 old guys or 1 old guy in a 14 foot J boat...so yeah, him being black is probably drawing some
attention...I know if i saw a boat load of young black folks coming by robinson island that i would take several looks...and then probably ask them to party
with us...

That could be a reason, but the more likely reason would be the location of the boat. | #19

I heard that he was in Devil's Cove, which is one of the biggest party spots on the lake and gets a lot of attention at times from the Sheriff's
department.

One question, OP4. | #20 | ||

Why are you so hellbent on believing Cedric Benson? I don't deny that cops beat the shit out of people for no reason every day. But I strongly suspect
that more than half of the people cops beat the shit out of were resisting arrest or otherwise asking for it.
