What would you have like to seen done physically to improve State's athletic facilities across the board?

Upgrade Dudy-Noble. Extend the grandstand, of course, do some cosmetic things on the inside and outside of the stadium to make it look even nicer, Build a new
concession stand and ticket office, build an MSU baseball museum adjacent to the Palmeiro Center or somewhere nearby, bring in better variety as far as
concession vendors- Lil' Dooey, Penn's (We used to have a Penn's trailer in The LFL in the early 90's), Papa John's, and Abner's to
help local business.
Upgrade Scott Field. I actually think our stadium is the perfect size for what we have been drawing. Now, if Croom really can get them to turn the corner and Greg promotes the team better than LT, we may very well need more seats. The "home" side where the alumni sit is old and really needs to be upgraded. New concession stands, Templeton's, and oh yeah, a new scoreboard with speaker's that work. Pre-Game coordination needs to be MUCH better. Go to just about any other SEC school and learn how they do it. We've got the "highlight video", the band trying to play the Fight Song, and a hurricane siren while the football team runs out all going on at once. Expand the Hump. |

a new track facility and an upgrade to the football practice area. The area behind the Palmeiro and Shira is an embarrassing eyesore, especially since
that's the first thing visitors see coming in off the new 82/12 interchange.

1. 1st ,3b base chairbaks 2. Bball practice/multi use facility 3. bowl in Scott Field north endzone. 4. Personal elevator for Cowbell9 to Club Level. 5. Power outlets in BC parking areas.

I would do a lot of things to MSU's facilities over the next 10 years. My list of priorities would be:
1.Build a basketball practice facility. 2.Expand DNF with chairbacks down the 1st and 3rd base lines to the foul poles. 3.Brick the outer part of DNF and get it up to date with modern times. Make it look like a nice college ballpark on the outside with a possible museum that celebrates the great players and coaches to come through MSU, the championships won etc. Kind of like the Bear Byrant Museum at Alabama. 4. Upgrade DWS-Scott Field. I would like to see a new jumbotron, ribbon scoreboad, new sound system that is loud enough for everyone to clearly hear. I would also update the concessions, restrooms etc and maybe include a climate control area for people to go into should it be extremely hot or cold. Kind of like the East Upper Deck has right now. We need that on the West side big time. 5. Finally, I would like to see us build a new basketball coliseum. This would be 10 years out but I think one needs to be in the works over the next 10 years. The HUMP will be approaching 45-50 years old in 10 years and will be outdated I think compared to what schools like Auburn, SC, TN etc have for their basketball facilities. We know Ole Miss will build a state of the art hoops facility in the next 10 years and we dont need to be left behind. |

1. Football...
Renovate the West stands to match the East stands as much as possible. Build visitor locker room building in the North East corner of the stadium. Bowl grandstand to connect with the Seal Building. 2. Basketball... Practice facility Lower floor and place bleachers all the way around the court (except one end). Move press row to non bleacher end. Place students around floor. 3. Baseball... Make superficial renovations (bricking) Extend grandstands down lines Bring in more food vendors.

The entrance to Dudy Noble could be a cool site. Now, it's stairs, the ticket office, and a street behind the first base side in front of the Hump. Along
with major concourse renovations to the Hump (this includes a practice gym for the b-ball team like in the Fedex Forum), build where there is some sort of
"main street" feel to the place. Balconied sidewalks, brick pedestrian only streets, a satellite msu gear store, a grill/place to eat, etc.
Ideally, you'd like for bars and shops in that area, mimic downtown Starkville, but that will never happen. Put an MSU sports Hall of Fame over there.
Have a mini game day experience kind of thing like batting cages for the kids and what not. Build some new student tennis courts over there somewhere, take
out the old ones and use them for parking. Slowly work around, encompassing all of the athletic sites in that area. The softball field, the baseball field,
the hump, the tennis courts, and track and field.. Shady grass areas for a bit more of tamer football tailgate crowd, and for tailgating at other sports.
Basically a mini small town downtown centered around the facilities in that part of campus.
The hump never needs to be bowled in, but that's a personal preference. I just think the horseshoe design is cooler for the college game. They need to close in one side, and do some cosmetic work on the 'old side' so the stadium doesn't look like it was built with legos. |

jumbotron with good speakers at Scott Field is the most important improvement needed right now. IT looks like a little TV in a freshman's dorm-room. The PA
system is completely inaudible. Nothing else needs to be touched until that is fixed. It is embarrassing to listen to whatever the hell is being said over the
PA system and it sounds like someone standing underneath the bleachers with a bullhorn. And also the person picking the music during the football games needs
to be drawn and quartered on the 50 yard line and replaced by someone with knowledge of cool music to play. If I hear Wooly Booly or Mustang Sally one more
time at a football game I am going to explode.

Sidebar: I find it odd that as I reply, Target has ad for "Notre Dame 1000pc Jigsaw puzzle" that is a rendering of their campus. I think it is a sign from God.

It should be noted that if Starkvilles population begins to jump exponentially ( like many law makers and proffessors in starkville are thinking), the team
stays competitive, and the student enrollment keeps going up at a faster rate than most other universtities then there may be a major reason to bowl the North
Endzone before a basketball practice facility is constructed.
This mainly is dependant on how long it will take us to build the practice facility. If three years have passed and no practice facility then there could be a good possibility for the change in order of importance. |
